August 1, 20232 yr ‘SHUT IT OFF!!’ Disruptive new ‘X’ logo removed in San Francisco Construction crews dismantled the giant, blinking "X" logo after 24 complaints were logged with the city https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/07/31/twitter-x-sign-headquarters-logo-taken-down/ Such a shame, with the giant flashing X it would no doubt be featured in a movie as the evil lair.
August 1, 20232 yr The has to be the dumbest rebranding since "New Coke". I can only guess that Musk used to have some business acumen, but has gradually gotten crazier as his bank account and ego grew.
August 2, 20232 yr Twitter feed is filled with ads now, and while letting a-holes like Kanye back on will no doubt improve things....
August 2, 20232 yr If I recall, we all agreed the best thing that could happen is for Musk to kill Twitter. Embrace it.

FB is actually good for me as it is the way I keep in touch with really old friends and high school classmates. However, I'd be just fine without it. Twitter, on the other hand, isn't something I use much at all but still can't avoid seeing all sorts of silly tweets show up all over the place in the news, other media, EMB, etc. A total cesspool of a place.
August 2, 20232 yr The only time I go on twitter is for sports free agency and trade rumors. Quite literally the only thing I use it for
August 2, 20232 yr I prefer Facebook. I find it easier to share pictures and events with friends and family, and if you follow the right pages you still see all the big sports tweets anyway.
August 2, 20232 yr FB is a worse cesspool. I only use it to keep in touch with a few people, but most of them are like me, and backing the hell away. FB is creepy. The ads are creepy.

I'm trying to get my family to delete these apps, and Tik Tok, from their phones. These are evil. Big brother is here, and you are paying for it, and giving them EVERYTHING for free.
August 3, 20232 yr This could go in Climate Change Disasters as well, but figured best here. WWF with a great ad:

Eh, the "best" thing IMO would have been for Twitter to be an open forum for real time exchange of information with just enough regulation to weed out false/dangerous information. It already was a pretty powerful tool for breaking news particularly for international stories and could have been even better. But I think we all know that was too much to ask for. Dying off isn't a terrible consolation prize
