The difference between Elon Musk and those running Twitter currently is that Musk believes in free speech and doesn't silence voices he disagrees with.

So you see no value in the possibility that Musk help reverse the stupidity that is cancel culture? A both sides problem and net negative for the society. I think it could be quite a positive if he could actually do that and also end the bots on Twitter hopefully setting a precedent.

I'd love to know how the person running twitter will "reverse the stupidity that is cancel culture"?  Unless you have a very narrow view of cancel culture that only includes people being banned from Twitter?

It's definitely not good for Trump to again have a platform where he can incite more sedition. I guess my hope would be that a short stint back will remind people how truly despicable that guy is and that his moment back in the sun will be short-lived.

Let him expose himself again and again. Long term that is far superior

Do you think hate speech should be allowed on Twitter?

There are some very angry people on Twitter; they are about to move to Canada in protest at Musk buying the company.

They don’t like it that a rich guy bought a company?

Not just allowed, encouraged!

Then quit. You're not forced to work for Twitter. These people are ridiculous.

Seemingly not. I thought they'd be happy that the Saudi regime will no longer a good portion of a social media platform, but that was ok apparently.

No one is always right but no doubt you are right far more often than the vast vast majority.

Free speech. Don't you dare correct his Tweets.

The self righteousness of people like that.  They are the reason the Babylon Bee got suspended; it was a silly parody but flew too close to the sun

Did you miss the word "help” in my post?

I just think it's a little bit silly to sit here and think you're going to love everyone who represents/owns the company you work for or that you'll support everything they do. That's not how the real world works.

I did actually, but unfortunately I don't see how Twitter not banning people puts a dent in cancel culture.

Ok. Musk and Twitter are fairly significant players. I’d say they have a bit of influence. We shall see.

This is all so stupid. It wouldn’t matter who the buyer is - $54.20 isn’t going to get it done. Even a shareholder vote would fail spectacularly. The 52 week high was in the 70s - a buyer would need to be close to that.

If Musk was serious, he’d up his bid to a number that has to be taken seriously. Or he would actually go hostile and launch a tender without conditions. Right now he’s just trolling the market and the SEC.

This post. Hoo boy.

It always has been allowed on twitter if directed at whites.

Cancel culture is just people getting together and deciding they want to boycott/dox somebody.  The existence of Twitter certainly has an influence on cancel culture, since it's a place where like-minded people can pool their collective influence, but unless Musk's plan is to kick out anyone who boycotts or speaks out against something they don't like (which would obviously be a pretty massive departure from his stated free-speech goals) then I'm not sure what difference they could make.

Man, first residents of two central Florida counties could possibly see a bump in property taxes and now Elon Musk buys twitter. It's been a really tough week for NPC ishlibs.
