My issue is not finding a way into late 1st to take a CB or S. But sign Mathieu at least to help for now. Can still get Nick Cross in the 4th.... opps wait.. Colts take him in the 3rd just now... grrr. Honey Badger will be nice.

I am, or at least I used to be, something of a Howie supporter. But I'm sick of seeing the secondary ignored. I'm confident that Davis will be a terrific player, but the move to get him cost us the resources that might have been used to move up in the 2nd. We could have had both Hamilton and Booth. Will Davis plus yet another Center be better than that? I do like the players we got. Definitely. I'm just frustrated over what we didn't do. The two most gaping holes going into this draft were at CB and Safety, and we did nothing about it. Just like last year.
April 30, 20224 yr It appears we’re going to look to free agency and cuts for DBs - does that mean the honey badger is a possibilty?

I mean they don't have a lot of cap given they need to sign their rookies and the contract they just gave AJ Brown. I'm not sure they can address secondary at this point and that's a real concern. I love what they've done in the draft and by getting Brown but teams are going to destroy our secondary.

While I think we did land good players, I still feel meh overall. Our most glaring needs (edge rusher, secondary) have not been addressed (and this draft has been touted as a strong class for DE so it wouldn't be a case of drafting solely for need). Our 1st round pick will be part of a rotation, our 2nd round pick will sit for a year, and our 3rd rd pick is looking at a redshirt year due to pec tear and meniscus in knee. We ended the most important part of this draft with no immediate starters. (NOTE: I get it, AJ Brown will be an immediate starter)
April 30, 20224 yr Now let's use our 5th on a backup QB and then the 7th on a punter and call it a wrap.

April 30, 20224 yr Here's a list of Unsigned Free Agent CB's. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/ufa/cornerback/available/ Maybe a younger guy like Vernon Hargraves?

Even though I do think we picked up some good players, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed that we didn't grab a CB, DE, and S on the first 2 days. I hate to have to fill holes with expensive (relatively speaking) veteran band aids. But I suppose I also recognize that the rebuild was going to take more than just a single offseason, so hopefully we address those areas next April.

If we don't have to draft a QB, The Eagles will be primed with 2 # 1 picks to address the secondary. But Howie's not done with this draft yet. It will be interesting to see what he does post draft as well.
April 30, 20224 yr I'm gonna say that this is probably the best draft the Eagles have had in years..On Paper.
April 30, 20224 yr Is dean projecting to be basically red shirted this year or is he going to see some time? memories of Sidney Jones wasted pick comes to mind for me! not saying hes gonna be Sidney jones but a player who will sit and not come to fruition

It's what we haven't done that's the problem. There's a reason that our secondary stinks. It's that Howie refuses to draft the players that would make it better. It looks like we're going to be fielding a secondary made mostly of band-aid FA's.

April 30, 20224 yr I understand that an organization will value some positions over others. But a wise drafting strategy needs to be tempered with a bit of long-term balance. We got a number of good players in last year's draft. It looks like we're gettin g a number of good players in this year's draft too. But we have no balance in our draft strategy. The result will be that we lack balance in the team. You can already see it.
April 30, 20224 yr - Baltimore drafts any player. "oh Baltimore is SO GREAT!” * slurping noises* - Eagles draft any player ”yeah but….. WAAAAH! Look what they DIDNT GET! WAAAAH!”

Again, not defending Howie at all because I think we have went quite heavy at linebacker all of a sudden, but at least he can say he killed off a few glaring weaknesses in one off-season. The offense "should" be better, and the defensive front 7 should be fun to watch. Next year I would focus on corners and passrushers....but a QB may be early focus..
April 30, 20224 yr Washington takes Howell in the fifth. I’m hearing Wentz is already demanding a trade.
