April 30, 20224 yr I'm wondering if getting the extra pick opens the door for Howie to take Strong if he's there.
April 30, 20224 yr 230 lb edge smh. Either we're moving to a 3-4 or this guy will never see the field.
April 30, 20224 yr Unless Howie makes some big FA moves, most of the holes on defense still remain. Maybe Howie is shifting more towards rebuilding than winning now. In a draft that supposedly was strongest in the middle rounds, Howie got rid of most of those picks. The first two picks may turn out to be great, but do not look to be immediate impact contributors this year. Davis sounds like he will start off more as a rotational player unless someone gets hurt. Dean should play right away and obviously they got better at WR. But edge, CB, S, need quality players that can start right now.
April 30, 20224 yr I guess that "best player available" nonsense doesn't apply to punters. Should've just taken him in the 5th.

Both could be likely. 2 minutes ago, ilikepargo said: Small fore DE. Nfl.com thinks backup SAM and ST guy. That seems about right. Seems odd to trade up for a ST guy that doesn’t return kicks.

April 30, 20224 yr This draft is about - IMO - the future. They are in a rebuilding mode. They realize that they're not a SB contender. For now.
April 30, 20224 yr Maybe he can develop into something. It's tough to know. This late into the draft we're looking at guys whose own mothers haven't even heard of them.
April 30, 20224 yr I think they also realize it might take one more draft and one more FA class to rebuild the Defense. Especially the Secondary.

Every draft has to have the focus on the future . Late round picks are pretty much that by default. We are beyond this draft's "sweet spot."

I mean they signed so many PS players there over the past two seasons you would think they would at least try something.

Unless they believe they already got prospects (McPhearson, Epps) that are underrated. Not that I'd agree, but..
