And risked yet another bust all for the sake of a 3rd round pick who could yet be another bust... AJ is by no means the best wr in the league but he's proven... AJ and Smith are by far the best duo we've had in probably DECADES

Alshon,TO, Fryer, etc. NOTE: Even though they did draft Cris Carter, I did not include him on this list since they cut him and he did nothing here. Maclin was far from a miss.

Within the context of your referencing Bill Walsh, everything has changed. Teams werent dangling franchise players for picks like they do now. Teams weren’t declining to pay their stats due to salary cap implications. To say nothing has changed and his draft strategies are the same as today would be to say he wouldn’t happily drop picks on a Lawrence Taylor the way LAC did for Khalil Mack, which is preposterous. If Bill Walsh was a GM today, he’d be wheeling and dealing just like everyone else. The majority of SB winning teams this millenium have done this to build their rosters, Howie is not some anomaly.
