I have no idea if any cornerbacks will be available before the season starts, But our back end is full of holes. Any team with good QB and several solid WRs will play pitch and catch against us. Also need a safety.

And that's my concern right now. Teams will negate the DL by throwing quick passes. The secondary is absolutely our weakness right now no doubt and needs to be addressed somehow.

We have some trade bait to offset some of that risk.  Dillard and Minshew could be available.  We have some decent picks next year.   I wonder if Sanders is available. If we want a candy bar, there's Reagor.

Gallon of gas? Or is the price of that too high now?

Sanders is out of contract after this year isn't he?

We are completely killing it in this draft. I love everything about it. Two studs on defense a stud center, and a young stud WR1. These taters will complain about anything.

I complain about stuff, but only when there is really something to complain about. I boooo Howie when he sucks, and applaud him when he gets his head out of his arse. Great draft this year- I have no complaints.

The players selected are good, just joking that we might not see these guys for 2 years. Dean will probably be able to recover and play this year. Jurgens will sit, Davis is a beast but will sit behind Cox at first & rotate in. Maybe make a case to start before the end of the year.

Davis will be in the rotation. Jurgens can play if someone gets injured- which happens every year. Dean will play. Cheer up! 👍🏻

ya  know what I like most of this guy?  Hes damn Smart!  you need the physical attributes and field savviness at this position but you also need brains! Brains to manage the defense behind that line. This guy can do that!  so psyched it fell that late.  As soon as our second pick was made I wrote Dean off as no way is he going to fall to us again.  LOL look at that!

Yes and he seems to be motivated (good or bad) by the fact the Eagles haven't laid out a lucrative contract.  Good player, but misses too much time.  I can't see the Eagles handing him big money to be a committee back.

Im with you there.  Hes a good player but I do think its replaceable at this point.  Think about it...I dont think he even put a up aTD last year despite his production.  you need to score in this league.

Not to nitpick, but hurts had 10 rushing touchdowns....probably has something to do with his lack of TDS

Shoot as soon as round 1 was over I wrote off Dean.  I thought no way he drops to us at 51 and didn’t bother to include him on my day 2 Master of the Draft list.  Doh!

I get the feeling that Dean could be the steal of the draft... or a total bust who benefited from having that DL take on all the big boys while he cleaned up. He's undersized and not particularly fast. Neither outcome would shock me.

In the third round I am very happy with that "gamble".

I really don't think they expected him to be there. Don't even think they wanted another LB. This has to be one of the times where an opportunity presents itself.

And while Dallas decides to pass on Jermaine Johnson because they were not ready, we took our shot and ran with it.

Fortunately, we too have a strong DL and front 7 as a whole.

You're not following. I'm talking about where he will be lining up. He won't only be on the EDGE. The gentleman above explained it in more detail above.

yeah, you can sack from up the middle.

I don't really just love love love the idea that fast sacker guy only beats the OT to the outside with speed and bendy.  Every team prepares exactly for that.  What happens if you put Jordan Davis against an OT?  That means that a 225-230 blitzer can come up through the middle.    Bigger and slower in the middle, getting progressively faster and lighter as you go outside is not the only way you can do it.

On the left is the Dick Butkus award winner, for the best linebacker in the country.

On the right is only the fourth DT to ever win the Chuck Bednarik award, for the best defensive player in the country. The other 3 DTs to have ever won it are Ndamukong Suh, Aaron Donald, Jonathan Allen.

No team has ever drafted both recipients in the same year, with the exception of when Dan Morgan and EJ Henderson won both awards.

I thought that everything would be fine ("stop whining about Hurts") because the Eagles had the ammo to just crush it on defense.  If the offense was roughly the same,  and pieces of top talent were placed somewhere, the Eagles would get more win in 22 than 21.   They definitely did that.  And  they pushed a 1st to next year, and the right kind of big WR upgrade.  Pretty staggering across the board.

And that’s after our receiver Heisman last year. We kinda like the rare trophies.

That was my situation as well.  I really wanted to put him on my day 2 list but didn’t simply because I believed there was no way he’d be there at 51…

Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Probably the most athletically gifted linebacker in the class - has elite speed and is explosive with a super quick twitch frame built for tackling
  • Very good as a pass rusher - flashes closing speed and agility to reach passers from the blind side or up the middle before they can escape.
  • One of the best linebackers in college in coverage - looks like a big corner as he runs with receivers and has an impressive 30.7 QB rating when targetted
  • Possesses straight-line speed to stay with or chase down receivers in man coverage
  • Good tackler who usually wraps up and hits surprising hard for a smaller LB
  • Speed allows him to be able to track sideline to sideline - has a great radar - knows where runners are going to break before they do
  • When tasked with man coverage responsibilities, he stays square and patient and very smart
  • Good at diagnosing where the play is going has good speed to get to ball carriers quickly and is a reliable tackler
  • Can attack the edge with speed and has the flexibility to dip low and under the tackle's reach.
  • Trusts his eyes and shows no hesitation with good anticipation to avoid blockers.
  • Takes blocks on low and shows strength to prevent getting sealed in.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Loses size battles to many tight ends and sometimes is pushed away on out routes.
  • A little undersized 6’0″ and 225 pounds, Dean may struggle against the power run game in the pro game
  • Has good play speed but doesn’t possess the elite change of direction ability to recover from a misdiagnosed play
  • His lateral agility and burst often put him in a position to make big plays, but he sometimes takes questionable routes to the ball and struggles to avoid blockers when in pursuit.
  • Lacks the strength to blow up fullbacks and bulk/length to prevent getting engulfed by better linemen at the second level.

I think the size issue will be fine but I do think that a team that has top run blocking might do well against Dean as a ILB,  but if the Eagles do play one of the strong run teams,  perhaps one of the dbs comes out and a bigger lb comes in.   It appears that Dean does have that 4.3 type speed, which would allow him to play Safety.  We don't have any pro day or combine numbers, except for high school.  It is quite common for players to make big improvements from high school in the 40.

The whole experience was frustrating.  "You know, listening to things that are not true and it's costing me a lot of money, and just seeing my mama’s face, and for me falling and to hear things like that, that was just the biggest thing,” he said, adding that the chip on his shoulder will now grow larger.

Yeah Nakobe.  Get salty and bring the hammer down for upsetting mama.
