June 10, 20205 yr Restaurant in Phoenix has British Cornish theme, has a photo of coal miners having beers at the pub after work. They are covered in soot. Man sees this and is offended by seeing white people in blackface. Writes an opinion piece that gets published in the AZ Central website. https://www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/op-ed/2019/01/28/downtown-phoenix-photo-men-soot-blackface/2683881002/ Quote Friends said, "It’s coal miners at a pub after work.” It was a photograph of coal miners with blackened faces. I asked a Latinx and white woman for their opinion. They said it looked like coal miners at a pub after work. Then they stepped back, frowned and said it’s men in blackface. I asked the waitress to speak with a manager. Instead, I spoke with a white restaurant owner. I explained to him why the photograph was offensive. Evidently, someone else had made a similar comment about the photograph before. The owner would not take it down or put up a card explaining it is coal miners. Quote At the downtown Phoenix restaurant, my concern that the photograph of men in blackface was a threat to me and my face and voice were ignored. A business’ photograph of men with blackened faces culturally says to me, "Whites Only.” It says people like me are not welcome. The operators of that downtown restaurant can choose to take the photograph down, leave it up or create a title card with an intention statement. No matter their decision, I think the photograph should be taken down — sacrificing one image for the greater good.

June 10, 20205 yr Author "As a nation and as a City we continue to grieve the recent loss of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery, and others in the country and in our community. We acknowledge that Black employees are experiencing a collective grief and trauma coming from a culmination of oppression that is over 400 years old,” said Wheeler in a city-wide email to employees. "I am directing managers and supervisors to approve the leave without question.” The fact that City employees aren't furloughed during the COVID shutdown is bad enough.... Now they get an extra week of paid vacation

While COPS was aggressive, only showing action and having episodes like "Tased and Confused", Live PD actually showed cops as part of the community. Gave a good look into all that they do and have to deal with. Honestly gave me an appreciation at the restraint they showed. Those dudes in Baton Rouge are clowns tho.

I met someone at a party who worked for their record label and "discovered" them doing a live show and signed them to their record label. This had to be like 8 years ago or something. She called them Lady A.
