June 8, 20214 yr Between stopping steals and paying for AOCs grandma's roof, there are going to be a lot of missed layaway payments at Kmart this month.

You're pretending like it is because you posted a misleading tweet, but obviously it isn't. All you have to do is watch the video you posted and actually listen to what she says. Again, are you really okay with people displaying the American flag side-by-side with blatantly unAmerican flags like the ISIS Flag, the Confederate Flag or the Trump Flag? I mean, we're talking about entities that openly hate America and want(ed) to destroy it.

"I was really disturbed, I saw dozens and dozens of pickup trucks with explicatives (LOL - I think she meant expletives) against Joe Biden on the back of them, Trump flags, and in some cases just dozens of American Flags , which is also just disturbing" Oh and she also talked about how we need to separate America from whiteness - so there was that

She said that using anti-American imagery side by side with the American flag is disturbing. Do you really disagree with that? Yeah we never saw any signs with explitives against Trump. Thats totally not something you can find even now after about 30 seconds of searching The reality is that she is projecting all of her racism onto America During Trumps term, we saw tons of signs with hateful rhetoric During Bidens term, we see tons of signs with hateful rhetoric The only real difference between the two, and what seems to be her major issue, is that one group has lots of American flags. Interesting to point that out. She would be more comfortable with anti-Anerican rhetoric than pro-American rhetoric. When you break down what she said, that's the bones of her message. She only reinforces that by emphasizing "American-ness" and "whiteness" and the need to separate the two. Why is she allowed to create a strawman about these people and their flags representing "whiteness???". That is 100% her own opinion being injected into the discussion as fact. Its race baiting. Im stunned

June 8, 20214 yr I'm picturing Van LITERALLY SHAKING at his computer right now trying to explain away this racist woman's hatred against America and its flag
June 8, 20214 yr Guys, I'm sorry, most Americans are not okay with coupling the American flag with the nootsie, ISIS or Trump flag. But you do you.

Just take the L bro - you've been gobbling them up like candy lately, you should be used to it.
June 8, 20214 yr Van's two for two on his last two efforts in here. First AOC, and now the anti-white lady who's scared of people flying an American flag. lmfao, peak cvon ishlibbery.

You're right, he left out the context that she started with saying she saw trucks with expletives toward Biden, Trump flags... Then, she added: "and in some cases, just dozens of American flags which is also just disturbing because essentially the message is clear, it was 'this is my country, this is not your country.'" She seemed to make a distinction there, not that they were American flags plus those other things, she began a different example. Maybe it was just her phrasing, but she also in the video talked about the problem of seeing Americanness as the same as whiteness and the need to separate them.
June 8, 20214 yr 1 hour ago, VanHammersly said: Talk about taking something out of context. She said coupling the American flag with the blatant unAmerican Republican messaging is disturbing, not the American flags themselves. I have no idea why liberals frame the insurrection as racism (probably out of habit). It's stupid and, more importantly, completely irrelevant. It was unAmerican fascism, not racism. They weren't trying to overthrow a duly elected President because of his race, they were doing it because they hate America. But her point if you actually listen to the video you posted, which it seems like you didn't, was that Republicans tend to couple the American flag with their blatantly America-hating propaganda, like Trump flags, confederate flags, etc., which is f'd up since they are diametrically opposed images. I have finally come to the conclusion you actually believe what you just wrote. This is delusional. You’ve convinced yourself (well... The Machine has brainwashed you into believing) the other side has just as much hate in their heart as you. For the most part (with a few wacko exceptions) this couldn’t be further from the truth. By the way, she ABSOLUTELY was sickened BY SEEING THE AMERICAN FLAG. You need to go back and listen. In her mind there is no distinction between the imaginary "white racist people” and the flag itself. She saw AMERICAN FLAGS and made up a hateful story in her own mind. This sort of neo-“progressive” fascism is not benign. It’s metastasizing and it’s terrifying.

I think my favorite part of the whole video was the fact that she used "explicative" in place of "expletive" and she's a member of the editorial board of the New York Times

Right, and like I said in the original post, the "whiteness" point is stupid and irrelevant to the Insurrection. Maybe her phrasing is weird when she transitions from the Trump flags part to the American Flags part, but I take it as her saying those things coupled together. Which, obviously, if a group wants to overthrow the US government and end democracy, they really shouldn't be flying the American flag next to their fascist iconography, since the two are diametrically opposed.

I took that as her juxtaposing the pro-Trump / anti-Biden flags with the American flags as collectively saying "America is Trump, Trump is America, and if you're not with Trump you're anti-American" Maybe the right-wingers here are fortunate enough to be surrounded by reasonable right of center people who don't go out of their way to express their cult-like support for Trump while also stating that democrats are all evil and corrupt, and trying to destroy the country from the inside, while Trump was the only one standing in the way. But there's a LOT more of the latter out there than I'm comfortable admitting. Hell I'd like to introduce you to the Florida contingent of my family .... (this was a gif of Trump putting democrats heads on the driving range and having the guy drive them onto the course) This was just today, and what was safe enough to post here. I don't particularly care for this woman, or any person, driving the wedge deeper. At the same time, at least for someone like me whose extended family is full of every stereotypical Trump supporter you can fathom from the crazy wing who was probably at Jan 6 (and frankly I wouldn't be surprised to hear got arrested) to the "yeah, he's terrible, but I got my tax cuts" enabler, it's hard to listen to how she describes the scene and think "yeah, I don't believe that's true" ... because I can absolutely see it happening. If you're someone who has read history and understands how powerful nationalism can be, seeing so many people who quite literally hate half of the country waving the stars and stripes as though they have a monopoly on patriotism can honestly be pretty gross. NOT because the American flag is meaningless, or because it means something terrible. But because it's SUPPOSED to mean something very different. And what it means to them is not America as a shining city upon a hill, whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere. I honestly cannot say whether my extended family that posted the above (and worse) loves America more than they hate Democrats. And that's sad. Especially because I know my cousin to be a good person. But he's become incredibly warped in the last 5 years. To be fair, he was always a bit of a Dixie type despite being raised in the NE, and was far too uncomfortable using the N-word casually. But it's much worse now than it was.
