Right, and like I said in the original post, the "whiteness" point is stupid and irrelevant to the Insurrection.

Maybe her phrasing is weird when she transitions from the Trump flags part to the American Flags part, but I take it as her saying those things coupled together.   Which, obviously, if a group wants to overthrow the US government and end democracy, they really shouldn't be flying the American flag next to their fascist iconography, since the two are diametrically opposed.

That's why I said maybe it was her phrasing.  The context before her Long Island story was the insurrection and the Trump cult.  But she also threw in the "whiteness" argument.  We have seen people equate seeing the American flag with racism or assuming they are a conservative before.  I mean, picture just the American flag flying on a pickup truck without any other information.  What assumptions are made about that person politically?

Sorry I can't reduce it to 280 for you to pretend to grok.

It's kind of funny the Trump flags are still a thing. If you have seen his latest speech, he ain't winning. 3 years from now he won't even be able to string along the incoherent thoughts he's known for.

Sure, yeah, if someone's got an American flag flying on their truck it's assumed they're a righty (not just because of the flag but also because of the truck).  Making sure that they fly the flag on their car/truck/boat as much as publicly as possible is a very by-design feature the right has employed for a while now.  But liberals fly American flags all the time too (I have one flying outside my lake house right now), they just tend to not include their cars/trucks in the equation.

And liberal protests tend to steer clear of them to their own detriment.  I've never understood why the left doesn't fill their protests with American flags.  The right does it when they protest and there's only upside there.

The injection of race into everything is a political loser. Not sure why the left just wants to keep beating that drum.

Not saying race issues aren't important or don't need addressing, but there are times where it's jammed into a debate without any real basis.

Because it is their modus operandi to inject race and class into everything.

Let's be honest -- both political parties have realized the path to winning is simply to give people someone to blame. This country is made up of a lot of angry people looking for someone to blame for their failures in life. This has been exacerbated massively in the last decade thanks to the rise of social media and the famous for being famous/rich starts it has created (e.g., Kardashians). People see conspicuous spending by people with no discernable talent or ability, and they get angry. Then, they see their friends/peers/contemporaries post things that show only the best parts of their lives (cars/vacations/etc.) and think those people are living large as well. So, the anger and resentment festers fueled by jealousy.

Both parties come along and tell them what they want to hear, what they NEED to hear -- it's not their fault that their lives didn't work out how they imagined when they were in junior high. Both parties are Robin Williams at the end of Good Will Hunting -- "it's not your fault." They simply disagree on who to blame. Democrats say to blame rich people and structural racism. Republicans say to blame minorities, immigrants and foreign nations. But they are both playing the same game as charlatans telling people that their lack of self-fulfillment and achievement is SOMEONE ELSE'S FAULT.

So everything gets spun into those lenses. No one is winning an election telling voters that their failures in life are their own fault. Nah -- vote for me and I'll punish those bad people, take from them and give to you.

It raises so many questions. How in the world could they find two people unable to do the quick math on that stat? How did it make it past the people that toss the graphics up on the screen? Any chance that they hate her/Williams and were doing it out of revenge? Why didn't they read any of the responses to the tweet?

I'm not exactly sure it has that much to do with "give to you" anymore.  I think it's more just about the punishment of the other people.  Sort of an "if my life's miserable, I want the people I hate's life to be miserable" attitude.  It's why you see people like Kz drool over Trump raising taxes on blue-staters even though fundamentally that would seem to be at odds with conservative policy.  But it punishes the people he doesn't like.  And since he's come to realize that he's a failure, at least he gains some solace in that fact that people he doesn't like may fail too.

I wonder - if every person on Long Island donated the money they used to buy their American Flags, would it be enough to fix AOC's abuela's roof?

That's more the left than the right. The left continues with the insane and disingenuous rallying cry about rich people not paying their fair share when we have the most progressive income tax system in the developed world. Their entire platform centers on redistributing wealth through social programs - welfare, medicaid, social security, Obamacare, raising the minimum wage, etc.

The right is more subtle and more focused on punishment of groups. The "taking from others" is really things like limiting immigration so that there are more jobs for Americans, more income because of the lack of labor supply, etc. It's not direct wealth transfer most of the time, but went there with Trump's trade policies that required flat out payments to farmers.
