"4th of July is canceled."

"4th of July is canceled."

We just went through this up here with Canada Day yesterday.

Over the past month or so, there have been some awful discoveries of mass unmarked Indigenous graves (all children 😟) from the former Residential School system in Canada. This school system was run predominantly by the Canadian Government and the Roman Catholic Church and separated Indigenous children from their parents. They were basically "re-educated" and taught to abandon their language and culture. Unfathomably, a number of these children either died from disease or were murdered in these schools and were never returned to their parents. It's sick, it's gross, it's genocide, and it's a massive black eye on the history of the country.

Clearly, there was a more somber tone heading into the holiday than usual, and rightfully so. I think most reasonable people were on board with just celebrating as they saw fit, but this wasn't good enough for a chunk of society. That Canada video you posted on the previous page is actually related to this topic with a number of people pushing the #CancelCanadaDay message and shaming those who chose to participate. My boss had some mini flags up around the business and had someone from the public call him and berate him over the phone and ended the conversation with "Canada Day is canceled this year!"

We had a low key pool day and BBQ at home with just us and the kids, but I couldn't imagine shaming or berating those who decided to go camping, set off fireworks, etc. It feels like this is only going to get worse, and it's definitely not just a US only problem.

Stunningly brave.

If you feel bad about what Canada did to its indigenous population, just remember that the U.S. did basically the same thing (including having a boarding school system focused on assimilation), but also had race-based slavery for 250 years (for 160 years before independence from the Brits, and 90 years afterwards).

Happy 4th!!!

Also, probably common knowledge on a football board, but one of the best football players in history was Native American and went to an Indian boarding school.  He won medals in the 1916 Olympics that were later taken away because he had played a little pro baseball.  Later he played professional football  for the Canton Bulldogs.

Imagine being politically aligned with this:

Liberals are legitimately the dumbest people in human existence.

Someone apparently stole his track shoes at the Olympics and he still won gold with two mismatched random shoes he found laying around.

And while the US took about 3 generations to ban slavery, to fight a war to stop it, Africa still has slavery right now. Today.

So STFU, sh**lib. The US is Fing awesome, basically every African person wants to leave their sh** hole country to come to the west, and Africa will probably take another 100 years to get anywhere close to the moral standing of late 18th century America.

Happy 4th you retarded ingrate! 🇺🇸

This post would have been a lot better if you used the term "ishlib.”

In the US, Nigerians are the most highly educated of all groups, with 61 per cent holding at least a bachelors degree compared with 31 per cent of the total foreign-born population and 32 per cent of the US-born population, according to 2017 data from the Migration Policy Institute.

More than half of Nigerian immigrants (54 per cent) were most likely to occupy management positions, compared with 32 per cent of the total foreign-born population and 39 per cent of the US-born population

Exactly! Everyone who can get the F out of that craptastic continent wants to come HERE! Apparently it’s not so Fing awful for people — regardless of their skin color — as long as they have some goddamn motivation!

Maybe all the lazy arse Americans should STFU, stop blaming their financial failures on other people, and take a note from the people coming from actual 3rd world hell holes who work the hair off their nuts to make something of themselves!

People spend their whole Fing life trying to come here, dying of heat stress in G-D 55 foot trailers in the Mexican sun trying to sneak in here, and MFing worthless arse life long losers want to whine about oppression? Get Fed losers! Get off your Fing arse, stop bishing about an opportunity people literally die for the opportunity to have, and make something of yourself!

America MFers! It’s goddamn awesome! 🇺🇸

Eat Thomas Jefferson’s decrepit deek loser!

Yeah, all the same people bishing about slavery from 200 Fing years ago don’t DARE put it into perspective. Africa has slaves. Asia has slaves. Today. Right now. Today. Actual Fing genocides. Today. But we’re worried about Fing pronouns and micro aggressions.

I have to think he's going to home temperature, and reporting the difference between those with AC and those without. There probably is correlation with race there as race is correlated with income, but it's pretty tortured to make it about race.

These arguments would be better made talking about lower income people having less access to AC and thus suffering more in extreme heat vs trying to wedge race where it "sorta" fits but also implies (and reinforces) this notion that black = poor.
