I never understood sweet tea (at Popeye’s and other places) until an African-American guy from Louisiana explained to me that it’s what you drink when it’s 100 something degrees out with high humidity and you don’t have air-conditioning in your house.

Maybe, but I think most people recognize that there are a lot of racial stereotypes related to food and drink.  How people like their meat cooked, for example, is one I often hear as there being a racial divide.

I wasn’t trying to imply sweet tea was a black thing btw.  I recognize it goes with southern fare.  We have Bojangles here in NC and of course they do sweet tea.

Because the only reason to drink tea with that much sugar in it is if it’s a gazillion degrees outside.  Most of us (especially in southern climates) spend the majority of our days in air conditioning where it’s like 70 degrees and have no reason to drink it like that.  Working class folks who work outside in the summer (many of whom are black or brown) might like it super sweet though.  You sweat it right out anyway.

Nope, because people all across the South drink sweet tea. Air conditioning, in the winter, people just like it.

Lol. Why don't people eat anything not common to their geography?  Parts of the South have cold winters and drink sweet tea. It's not some race issue.
