Uh, it's the Olympics. Maybe you should chill out and let people enjoy cheering for their country. It's not like they're trying to make a point about the WNBA. Likewise, nobody cares about gymnastics either except for once every 4 years.

Like most people, I don't care about basically all Olympic sports, when it's not the actual Olympics. Sorry that patriotism triggers you so much. You can always move to Hungary if you want to cheer for a country that hates freedom and sucks at sports.

They weren't trying to make a point for the WNBA.  That would be silly, the WNBA is helpless

The point they were trying to make....Im not sure it had much to do with sports, but hey sure this is about (checks notes) patriotism??

Why defend this?

I cant understand this...

I remember a time when all of us --no matter your poltical leanings--could simply identify the really stupid thing and go "ha ha, that is stupid!"

I guess those days are gone

Celebrate the dynasty, sure.

For me the comedy is the intentional put down of everything else that was unnecessary SJW nonsense.

Even if that makes you upset you gotta admit that a 55-game winning streak is pretty good in any sport.

It's solid, but the real question is could they beat a squad of 14 year old boys?

Spoiler: no.

If any of our grandparents had seen this just prior to DDay, would they have jumped back i to the boat or just straight up drowned themselves?

The US women’s basketball team is like the Joe Biden of sports teams

So you’re upset because they don’t play men?

You dont think calling a womens national basketball team a "dynasty" isnt virtue signaling?

Who do they even compete with? Like the 4 other countries on earth that can actually field a team of professional athletes??

1) what are you even trying to say with that first sentence?  "me fail English?  That's unpossable!".   And yeah, a team that has won 7 straight gold medals is a dynasty.  How are they not?

2) The Women's Olympic basketball tournament has 12 teams, same as the Men's.   30 years later and people still talk about the dream team and how awesome and dominant they were. If someone near you is talking about the dream team, do you pop in and go, "Yeah but who did they even compete with??"

And you couldn't keep up with a squad of 14 year old girls on a Bball court.

Call them a dynasty, whatever.  Calling them the greatest dynasty is painfully stupid and transparently virtue signaling.

Im pretty sure even Nike doesn't believe it.  They just keep coming up with this outlandish ish because they know people like you will blindly defend it and create a buzz

Interesting.  They go after Kz for not reading the articles.  :P

Yeah the commercial starts with her in school for a class assignment to write about a dynasty.  The context was not sports, she intentionally said she's not going to write about ancient history and write about a real dynasty.  That in itself is fine, hype of the women's basketball team for a Nike commercial, makes sense.  Given the recent environment of wanting to tear down statues and stop teaching about "old white men" in classic literature and all, the agenda was obvious.  It's not a big deal, just laughing at the woke commercial but you were wrong, the context was not sports.

1 hour ago, Mike31mt said:

I dont know, man.  That would have made sense.  Youll have to ask Nike why they couldnt simply honor the team for their many achievements and instead had to use platitudes that are clearly insane.

Why cant Nike just be sane and normal?

Have you ever worked with Marketing? Sane and normal doesn't sell.

Nike sells to the under 40 crowd. They don't care if boomers complain about their ads. Hell, they HOPE boomers complain.

No it doesn't make me upset, and I already did admit that in the very post you quoted.

Trumpbots:  Nike doesn’t support America!
Nike: *Makes commercial praising the US women’s basketball team that’s won 7 straight gold medals.

Trumpbots: Nike is exaggerating how good the US women’s basketball team is! They’re not even that good!  Who do they even play against!

Yeah I keep the volume off my phone at work(it's noisy and you can't hear it anyway) so I don't watch a lot of videos. Also I didn't post it, he doesn't even read the things he posts which is odd. I read though.

To be honest I don't even care about the commercial or Nike (with the exception of a particular model of weightlifting shoes they fit my feet terribly). I just agree that as far as sports go, the US women's basketball team is pretty much the very definition of a dynasty.
