All of those prompts would be fine for a college level creative writing course. The problem is giving them to minors. Save that stuff for when they’re out of high school.

It’s also bizarre how obsessive the teacher is with sex and murder. One or two topics, I could chalk it up to an otherwise decent teacher who had a moment of miss judgement. I think we all have had "the cool edgy teacher” that probably pushed boundaries but was effective at their job. But when it’s every single question (with the exception of telling a minor to drink alcohol... honestly, how stupid is this person?) the teacher has a problem.

For perspective, there were 642 writing prompts in total. Looks like 20 might be objectionable for minors.

But the teacher ought to know better than give adult writing prompts to high schoolers, and should be reprimanded appropriately. Mayor is turning it into a politics power play against the school board. "Resign or you will be charged"? Get out of here with that.

The Republican playbook consists of one move: crank up the culture war. Anything that can be twisted as some kind of assault on "traditional values" is framed as part of some vast liberal conspiracy to "hijack our kids/freedoms/guns"

It's a pointless emotional exercise to decide which attack was worse. Both are just very different kinds of attacks.

I would say though that had a bunch of Muslims taken part in a 1/6 style attack on Congress there'd be a wildly different reaction.

So have the kids take a college course but don’t give them college related material?

9/11 was clearly worse but a key difference between the two is that UBL radicalized the terrorists that attacked us on 9/11 and our own president radicalized the terrorists that attacked us on Jan 6th.

Instead of choosing from the near infinite number of age and setting appropriate topics, the teacher instead obsessed on sex and murder and told them to break the law by consuming alcohol.

The teacher deserves to lose his or her job.

It’s a Hiram College class.  The teacher probably doesn’t even teach at Hudson even though the class was there.  But congrats on not understanding how dual credit works.

I understand it just fine. A moron teacher told a bunch of minors to drink beer and write about killing people and sexual depravity.

The teacher has shown a tremendous lack of judgement and should no longer be allowed to teach minors.

I’m not sure if you went to college or not, but mature topics come up in college classes. If you don’t want your child to be exposed to mature topics like sex, then don’t let them take college classes.  It’s that easy.
