There's some of that. I think most of it though is a mentality. People who tend to be more concerned about the well-being of "others" and improving the situation of others tend liberal, while those who tend to be more focused on the well-being of themselves and their immediate family and friends tend conservative. Both have a role to play, and both are important. No judgement regardless of where you fall in. But liberals just seem more likely to embrace trying to bring people from an outgroup into an ingroup. Again, there's a time and place for both philosophies, but I think the reasons liberals tend towards teaching roles has more to do with their worldview than inherent abilities (or lack thereof). FWIW I'd like to think I care equally about my fellow man, but when push comes to shove ef them I want to get mine and make sure my family is taken care of. A rising tide may lift all boats, but some boats are still bigger and riding higher and that's my ride.
