Amid heated demonstrations that left two statues destroyed and windows smashed in Madison, Wis., a Democratic state senator was reportedly attacked by protesters near the state Capitol.

State Sen. Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee) told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he had been heading to the Capitol to work late Tuesday when he stopped to snap a photo of the protesters.

"I don’t know what happened … all I did was stop and take a picture … and the next thing I’m getting five-six punches, getting kicked in the head,” said Carpenter, 60.

In a message to The Washington Post, Carpenter said he may have a concussion and fractured nose in addition to a bruised eye and sore ribs and back.

"This has got to stop before someone gets killed,” he wrote. "Sad thing I’m on their side for peaceful demonstrations — am a Gay Progressive Dem Senator served 36 years in the legislature.”

Nah, Like is said, it would be nice to see a better pick of said noose,  but there is a huge difference between a noose and a loop at the end of rope that is being used as a garage pull.

i just want to make sure everyone knows that Bubba was not the one to see the "noose". A crew member saw it, told NASCAR, NASCAR told Bubba. Drivers arent allowed in the garage area pre race because of the rona. I hate seeing Bubba get drug through the mud for this, it should be the guy in the garage that reported it. 

 

also, it was a noose. it wasnt tied with malice, it was made to be a garage pull, but it was still fashioned into a tiny noose.

That's just a handle. Nooses tighten as they are pulled and are much much bigger. That looks like a simple loop handle to shut the door.

It had been there foro months

Face it. This was yet another race to victimhood that fell flat.  Its a sad state of affairs in this country right now where people have to stumble over themselves to be "hero victims" on social media, and everyone has to pile on immediately or they're racist.

I would actually feel bad for Bubba Wallace if he didnt double down on this nonsense.  He wasnt even the one to discover the rope, someone just told him.  But he ran with it, assumed everyone was racist, and now he wants to be a hero.  He's instead become a laughingstock.

Its hard to say what happened here, but what I know is that this outlandish environment of creating a bad guy so people can be social media heros has to end.   Its the same reason literally every statue in the country is being removed--people are in a race to be victims so that they can courageously respond to the fake offense with even faker heroism

Im 100% on board with shutting down social media at this point.  Just f'ing blow it up and start over, we're not ready

 

Same ish just happened at my beloved WVU.  An athlete disagreed with his white conservative coach, so now all of a sudden the football player runs to social media, basically ruining careers and destroying the football program to try and be a social media hero.

Eh... I wouldn't go that far.  I think its far more likely that this was an over reaction by someone given the current hyper sensitive state of race relations

That’s exactly what it is.  Notice how it’s off to the side?  If that was meant as a threat, or an insensitive joke, it would have been placed in the middle with a much, MUCH bigger loop.

i mean, he was pulled into a meeting with NASCAR, they told him a hate crime was being investigated, and they showed him the noose which the FBI cut down for evidence.
