After the surgery to seal the leak and having a stent placed to help with her intracranial pressure, she had some partial facial paralysis. Turns out on top of the other stuff she also had a derivative of the shingles virus called Ramsay Hunt syndrome which inflames the cranial nerves and causes the facial paralysis. Now she's having her 4th spinal tap next Thursday at Jeff and most likely will be having a shunt placed. Been a hellacious month or so. The face thing came out of nowhere literally overnight so I drove her straight down to the Jeff ER cause I thought she had a stroke. Scary ish.

I referred to it a while back when I came down with shingles on my face. Docs were concerned about it affecting my vision, but thankfully the damage there was limited. The nerve pain was insane though, couldn't sleep, eat, or even just think straight at times. Still had to go in to work though due to the timing of a project we were working on. Explaining over and over again why my face was all F'ed up to everyone I talked to was real fun. A crazy overall experience especially because I thought you couldn't even get shingles until you were in your 40's or 50's, but even more wild was hearing how many people over 50 had no idea what it was and hadn't been vaccinated for it. Hopefully your wife's issues are taken care of and she has a speedy recovery.

Yea it's scary to think how a virus we all got as kids can live dormant in our bodies for so long and then come back to F our ish up so many decades later.
