Yeah I'd tend to agree with BBE, something seems a bit off if they're issuing corrections for data that goes back 18 months. Seems like they're trying to deflect from recent jobs' reports and revisions.

Also worth noting here how BLS comes to these numbers.

They do a survey of companies. Companies say "I'm going to hire 100 people this month". That shows up in the numbers.

When they check back in the subsequent months, they ask "how many did you actually hire?" and that is the revision.

There is no fudging of numbers, there is optimistic reporting of expected hiring by employers that dried up.

Now this is suspect. A full 6 months to revise numbers? After firing the statistician at BLS?
