It's the largest economy in the country and the fifth largest in the world. If California fell apart then what happened to West Virginia? Mississippi? Kansas?

West Virginia eclipses most other states in the percentage of people affected by diabetes, heart disease and obesity. It has had the nation’s highest rate of drug overdose deaths for years running. It also has the highest obesity rate and the highest rates of diabetes and high blood pressure. Adding to those woes is the highest suicide rate among states east of the Mississippi River.

I know two couples personally who have left the city because of its demise. Both are liberals. The bigger ones in terms of migration out are Illinois and New York.

Virginia could attract more people, they'd have a more robust economy. Why aren't they? Must be those liberal policies.

But you have to attract people to your state if you want to improve economic conditions. WV hasn't done that, despite their very conservative policies. Why is that do you think?

Not sure thats necessarily true Basically for all of WVs history there have been economic struggles. There was/is a natural gas boom that has brought temporary workers in from all over the country, but theyre not permanent. This is a big reason for the surplus. Either way Im butting into this conversation late. But I had to defend WV. Its a unique state. It was solid blue for decades until the Dems turned their backs on the states coal industry. I was a registered Democrat at one point, so Im not blowing smoke, that is just reality. Obama, then Hillary, and now Biden will double down on destroying this state in pursuit of green energy.
