The simple fact is that SS, Medicare and Medicaid have roughly a hundred trillion in unfunded liabilities. These liabilities are technically off balance sheet, so they don’t "count” towards the debt, but make no mistake about it — these are financial liabilities. The payroll tax does fund a trust for our entitlement system, but it is not even close to enough to actually pay for what has been promised. The bottom line is that there is no free lunch. Either the benefits have to be cut, the taxes have to increase or the dollar has to be devalued. Any way you slice it, the entitlement system is like a century long slow motion financial train wreck that morons like you try to make into a partisan issue rather than accepting the reality that these programs need be abandoned.

I got one question for you, are you one of those supply sider idiots ? You know, otherwise called voodoo economics, ponzi scheme, shell game, whatever. Talk about entitlement train wrecks. Socialized medicine and the end of the aforementioned is the only way out

You know, otherwise called voodoo economics, ponzi scheme, shell game, whatever. Talk about entitlement train wrecks. Socialized medicine and the end of the aforementioned is the only way out My economic world view is based on the Austrian school, though there are of course contributions made from other schools of thought. If you are against Ponzi schemes, our entitlement system — social security, Medicare and Medicaid — are the largest Ponzi schemes in human history. And I don’t mean this figuratively, I mean it literally: they are textbook definitions of a Ponzi scheme financial structure: beneficiaries are are paid by new entries into the system. This works as long as the ratio of the number of people paying into the system outpaces the number of beneficiaries. But that ratio has collapsed, which is why these programs are mathematically impossible to sustain without the changes I mentioned before.
December 27, 20204 yr So what is your source for your hundredish trillion dollars ? I’d imagine if we had started socialized medicine say in the 70’s that number might not exist and of course then trickle down would have been a fantasy

I’d imagine if we had started socialized medicine say in the 70’s that number might not exist and of course then trickle down would have been a fantasy Take your pick of sources. Everyone with a clue comes up with a similar number based on the US government’s report from the trusts. Here, start with this... I assume the Dallas Federal Reserve is legitimate enough for you? Quote In "Fiscal Fitness: The U.S. Budget Deficit’s Uncertain Prospects,” senior economist Jason Saving explains that while U.S. budget deficits have been shrinking over the past few years, surging entitlements—especially the Medicare drug benefit—pose a serious long-term risk to the budget and could harm the economy’s growth rate. "The unfunded liability for Medicare Part D alone—the drug benefit that took effect in January 2006—is greater than the entire Social Security shortfall,” Saving writes.“Dividing the $88.2 trillion [total unfunded liability] evenly among the 300 million people who live in the United States produces a per-person liability of about $290,000—more than five times the average household’s annual income.” https://www.dallasfed.org/news/releases/2007/nr070427.aspx Note the date. This is from 2006. Not 2016, but 2006... so it has gotten much worse since then. You can find various updated figures below: https://www.usdebtclock.org https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2019/01/10/unfunded_govt_liabilities_--_our_ticking_time_bomb.html https://www.truthinaccounting.org/about/our_national_debt As far as socialized medicine, you can imagine gumdrop rainbows and sherbet flavored farts, but you are living in a fantasy land with absolutely zero basis in reality. There is actual math and economic limitations at work here. Nationalizing things doesn’t fix anything. Most of the time it simply makes things more expensive.
