This is one of those intentionally misleading by omission memes. The simple fact is that SS, Medicare and Medicaid have roughly a hundred trillion in unfunded liabilities.

My economic world view is based on the Austrian school, though there are of course contributions made from other schools of thought.

If you are against Ponzi schemes, our entitlement system — social security, Medicare and Medicaid — are the largest Ponzi schemes in human history. And I don’t mean this figuratively, I mean it literally: they are textbook definitions of a Ponzi scheme financial structure: beneficiaries are are paid by new entries into the system.

This works as long as the ratio of the number of people paying into the system outpaces the number of beneficiaries. But that ratio has collapsed, which is why these programs are mathematically impossible to sustain without the changes I mentioned before.

So what is your source for your hundredish trillion dollars ? I’d imagine if we had started socialized medicine say in the 70’s that number might not exist and of course then trickle down would have been a fantasy

As far as socialized medicine, you can imagine gumdrop rainbows and sherbet flavored farts, but you are living in a fantasy land with absolutely zero basis in reality.
