Target opened up some pre-orders at around 5am ET (which I confirmed), so we're likely not done yet. If they're smart, they will throttle release all day today. Gotta keep a lookout!

For sure. Though I will say that it's still not showing up on my account order history. Meanwhile the amazon one is showing up and looks like it's good to go.

So went back in again chose the 500 dollar one put in a different card processed payment and my other card needed proof of the purchase!! However, since it got as far as being processed best buy put it on hold till I could make a payment. Went into my CC account it asked if I recognized the purchase so I accepted. Went back onto best buy finally paid for!! Then I looked and realized it had me picking it up at a location 3hrs away!! So was able to change pick up to deliver and now after all that sheet it was I got confirmation emails for everything I did!!

That was quite an ordeal last night. When my kids are older I shall recount to them the harrowing tales of spending almost 3 hours trying to preorder the shiny white box nestled in our media cabinet.

Dudes the preorders were up all over last night...And were selling out in minutes. 

Ok so now that we got the console, what F'ing games are we buying to play at launch? The only one I was somewhat already interested in was Watch Dogs, so I pre-ordered a copy. Spider man looks okay too, but I was never much into the previous games.

Spiderman and Ratchet and Clank. Ratchet 1 was very good. Spiderman was great. I also have a 7 year old to play them with, so... Also remember Cyberpunk is coming out 11/19, so you'd want to play that on ps5 as well.

So weird that they said pre-orders would open today, and they all opened yesterday around 5pm. 

Walmart, Target, BestBuy, Amazon and Gamestop all had them off and on through out the eve.

FWIW Walmart and Amazon stated they will have more preorders on the 22nd.

I've been so busy, I didn't even realize preorders started.  Probably FUBAR'd since I don't have the time of home schooled kids clicking refresh on the preorder screens.

Walmart said they were going to do the preorders in store on the 22nd

 

3hrs??? Pfffft when it was all said and done I spent about 7 hrs!!

Our clan discord was a mess w people posting the links and ish...There has never been a problem w PS or Xbox availability at release. Only Nintendo has a history of making their consoles scarce. I really don't think it's going to be an issue to find one on the 12th.

It wouldn't of been so bad if the websites didn't keep crashing and the fact that they decided to launch preorders basically immediately after the price reveal when it was supposed to be today.

They even staggered the inventory roll out to try to head off the server crashes. Ugh. Only Amazon was seamless and that's only because IGN likely paid for the rights to the link first.

Yeah I was up till 4am on every single one of those websites best buy was the only one that showing availability, if their site wasn't so damn broken it wouldn't if been so bad. 

If I would of lost that damn thing because my bank denied the transaction I would be on the phone with them right now ripping them a new one! I was infuriated!! Lol

PS4 pre-orders sold out quick too. I remember constantly refreshing when those went live years back. Maybe not as quick, but that was also not during a pandemic and there have been reports that PS5 unit outlook was slashed by 4 million due to problems with their chips.

Well that and the fact that it probably wasn't supposed to happen the way it did lol. They said they were gone in 20min lol. I was on there every other min after you got yours up until 4am and it never showed them being available again

On some level, they want that crazy demand and the madness and hype that goes along with it. I am trying to decide just how much of the madness last night was manufactured and how much was unscripted. There's a lot of angst on the Tweeter over IGN getting the slimmed down Amazon link before anyone else. It is true...everyone has a price; even Jeff Bezos.
