If Gannon keeps doing his recent thing we will have to accept Fangio whether we like it or not next year once the Chargers or Houston snag him

Been saying this from the start though. Gannon is basically a disciple Fangio anyways. Truth is if they replace Gannon for him people will eventually be frustrated to find that the defense will not change as much as they assume it would.

They aren't firing Gannon anyways, he's top 5-10 in all major defensive stats for Christ sakes. He isn't the one out there missing tackles

Yeah there’s no way they’re firing Gannon. This team gave up 17 points against the Cardinals, but you would think they gave up 40. Not sure what people are expecting these days. 17 points in todays NFL is an accomplishment.

Reports have leaked that Fangio is serving as a consultant for the Eagles.  While basic schemes may not be so different, implementation and attention to detail is a different story.

The fact he’s consulting makes it even less likely he will replace Gannon. Certainly not this season anyway.

Only way I see Fangio becoming our DC at this juncture is if someone hires Gannon to be their HC, which is not that farfetched given the fact he was already a candidate for a few of the open spots last year. Now the team is doing even better.

Gannon is going to become a HC at some point. He seems to be highly regarded in the NFL and this year I think he's shown more than he did last year. If we make the play offs and win a couple of play off games there's little doubt he's going to be a HC somewhere.

The NFL has had a concerted push to get younger head coaches.  There will be some knucklehead team that gets blown away by Gannon's interview and will pull the trigger if the Eagles continue this pace

I mean there must be something about him for the NFL to apparently regard him so highly. And to be fair this year his D has been a lot better.

Maybe Riverboat Ron if he gets canned from DC?

Jim Schwartz and Jeff Fisher say hello.

Considerably so

he did it again

Is firing Gannon gonna help the dline and LBs get off of blocks in the run game? Washington was too physical for this team on offense and defense. Got away with some BS missed calls or BS calls for them as well.

I say it every week…. #FireGannon not sure who they bring in but he’s awful. His schemes are the worst.

Yes, to some extent, but only if the new DC brings an attacking style of defense up front. they wait for everything to come to them and by that time, it's too late. Why does Cox just stand up on almost every play rather than stay low and try to split the double team with all his might 20 times a game? Because the soft DC wants him to play that way. Gannon is a play it safe to the extreme type of coach.

Last night I saw only 1 play where he brought pressure by design. The Eagles were backed up deep in the red zone and the result was they stopped Washington. Imagine sprinkling that in 20-25 times a game. He won't do it though. Too risky. Might give up a big play. Newsflash, they gave up big plays anyway. He's got the front 7 playing like D-backs in soft zone coverage. It's waiving the white flag from the start and worthy of being fired over. Still, he knows the right people I guess, so there won't be any real consequences for his failure, just a HC job somewhere. I hope he gets it this off season just so he goes away. Enough is enough with his nonsense.

totally agree. He's totally risk adverse and would rather take 5-10 yard per play than blitz and risk getting done for 20+.

Wake the F up gannon and grow a pair. Was exactly the same with schwartz, but at least he blitzed more.

Also sirianni is in charge - he needs to tell him to sort this **** out.

Think it was said that Gannon increased the blitz rate from 22% in the first half to around 50 in the second. That's clearly not being aggressive on the front foot until it's too late.

His soft coverage approach will continue to cause problems here and there. He better be watching lots of tape this week. Indy's run offense is no joke.

To be fair, the defense did play somewhat better in the 2nd half because they pressured more, but they were terrible on 3rd down all game. They also couldn't defend the run (we really miss Davis). The main issue was not getting stops on 3rd down. They didn't give up a lot of TD's, but allowed Wash to eat too much clock. They only got a TD in the 2nd half due to The eagles trying to create a miracle and turning it over

Fire him!
