The deaths were the first associated with measles in the state in 35 years.

"Both were residents of Lancaster County, where the share of kids who have gotten the MMR vaccine fell from 95.5% in 2017 to 87.6% last year."

smh...... this is so infuriating.

The people dying of measles are non vaxxers. Totally preventable except the brainwashed cult members don't believe in science or medicine. And the Government won't help.

The infant deaths aren't non-vaxers, they can't get vaccinated until they're a year old (or maybe 6 months, can't remember)

If the mother is immunized she passes that protection on to the baby for a short period thus the babies deaths are indeed non-vaxers.

If the mothers indeed weren't vaccinated then that's fair.

That period is not 12 months. That immunity typically fades 3-6 months after birth.

While true, measles remains the single most contagious disease known to man. By a pretty hefty margin. More than 10x the R0 of the Flu. Even with passive immunity from mom there's still a relatively high risk to the newborn.

New York declares state disaster emergency over rising me...

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state disaster emergency on Monday as neighboring Pennsylvaia battles its largest outbreak in three decades.

One fun part in all this is that most pediatric offices have vaccine requirements nowadays. So the MAHA/MAGA types have to either find a concierge usually out of pocket option, or a government health center. The first one is expensive so not an option for most, so they're flooding the health centers. This also happens to be where most of the area immigrants go lol

The unvaccinated spread disease and die. Maga deserves it

Oxford HS is closed today due to measles.

Oxford Area High School is closed on Friday after the school district was informed of a confirmed measles case in the community.

Since the Chester County Health Department doesn’t have measles immunity information for all staff members at the school, the health department ordered Oxford Area High School to complete that verification process, which will require classes to be canceled on Oct. 9, Oxford Area School District Superintendent David Woods wrote in a letter to the community.

The district already has vaccination information for all students. Woods did not make it clear whether school will reopen on Monday, but said that any person not vaccinated for measles will not be allowed to attend school functions and must be quarantined for 21 days from school and all school functions.
