July 31, 2025Jul 31 I'm wondering how much of an interest they had for Suarez with the Dbacks. That's the guy I wanted. He is a rental so I couldn't assume the asking price was too astronomical. He would have finally given the Harper the protection he has never had since Hoskins was here. I would have given them Bohm. Arizona would then have a 3rd baseman for another year under team control. DD really screwed this team, especially Middleton with the horrendous contracts to Walker, Nola, Kepler, and Romano. How much more could they have done whether at this trade deadline or even this past offseason if they didn't have those scrubs on the books?

Also, he's returning to Seattle.
July 31, 2025Jul 31 It is obvious Middleton is directing Dombrowski, he does not want to give up guys like Painter. I think DD would deal all these guys if he had the freedom

Realistically though the prospect pool should’ve been better if they drafted better, spent more money internationally and made better trades for prospects when parting guys off

But every meaningfully above average bat in this lineup is well north of 30 and they have absolutely no hitting help coming up through the minors for years besides Crawford, who is more of a slappy hitter anyway. They are going to have several lean years on the horizon no matter what they do at this point.
August 1, 2025Aug 1 Yeah I take that DD comment as a "don't hold your breath" on Painter and Crawford in 2025.I think the writing is kind of on the wall here for 2026.- If I understand Bader's contract, he's on a 1 year rental. His $10m mutual option is an awkward number. He's either going to play well down the stretch and opt out for more or he's not and the Phillies won't want him anyway. So for 2025, that pencils Crawford into CF.- They will cave into the pressure and overpay Schwarber, a popular clubhouse leader having a career year. So next year they'll have a lesser, older version of Schwarber at a higher salary.- Ranger Walks. Ready or not, here comes Painter, penciled in as the #3.- They add another flea market LF/CF hybrid as Crawford insurance in CF and Marsh competition in LF.Those are your 2026 Philadelphia Phillies.

Unfortunately, I agree with everything you’re saying. 😂

August 1, 2025Aug 1 I thought their deadline was ok. Better than previous years. The issue is Dombrowski did a **** job in the offseason where you had 2 major areas of concerns. Only way they were fixing both is if they landed Duran and Suarez. Which was slim based on prospects they wanted to give up. If Dombrowski fixes one of the OF spots instead of giving Kepler $10 mil and they went out got Duran and Bader we’d probably be much more excited. Instead it’s underwhelming even with Duran cause of the crappiness by Dave during the offseason made it hat we needed a spectacular deadline for any of us to feel confident in the lineup and bullpen.
