It’s because you also have Bohm and Castellanos who aren’t cleanup hitters batting cleanup. Also the dodgers have Ohtani hitting 1st, Betts 2nd and freeman 3rd. Machado is hitting 3rd and tatis 1st. Soto hitting 3rd/lindor 2nd. Judge hits 2nd or 3rd and Bellinger top 1-3. They just have an actual cleanup hitter behind them in Stanton. Kyler tucker hits 2nd/3rd for the cubs. Mariners have Raleigh hitting 3rd (like 75% of the time). Alvarez for the Astros has been out for a while and they are always changing their lineup. Even so he predominantly hit 3rd. Blue jays have Vlad jr hitting strictly 2nd or 3rd all season. I can go more into this. Those teams have better production as guys batting behind those guys are producing more. Heck there’s been times where schwarber hit cleanup so some of that is his production.

There’s plenty of teams that have their best hitters batting 1-3 and not in the cleanup spot. They simply have have better cleanup hitters or just better production. It’s more because Alec bohm and castellanos aren’t cleanup hitters and we’ve known this know for 2+ seasons

True. But your argument still doesn’t hold just cause ours guys are batting 2nd and 3rd. Other teams doing that too and are having much more success with their cleanup spot than us. the analytics still proves what’s been discussed and talked about the Phillies lack a 4 hole/middle of the lineup guy behind schwarber and harper. Been this way since 2023. It’s been pretty obvious Castellanos and Bohm aren’t 4 hole hitters/cleanup guys or good enough consistently to be batting behind schwarber and Harper. The analytics are baring that out particularly this year.

The fact they are dead last of all the contenders in OPS+ solidifies that. And it’s not exactly just slightly behind them. The second worse team is Toronto with a 114 OPS. Phillies are -26 points behind. It’s not good. This again goes back to the fact for 2.5 years they’ve needed a middle of the order right hand power bat to push guys like Castellanos and Bohm back into their rightful spot
