August 21Aug 21 Soooo the offense wants to wake up, damn near September to start playing some baseball now huh? Where was this at 100 games ago? That was a very fun series why can’t they keep this up? We all know they’re gonna let us down again soon enough and go back to their old familiar ways but what the hell was this? 48 hits in 3 games. Outstanding

August 21Aug 21 Curious in September how they look going to Milwaukee and dodgers. How those series shape up and how they look is going to determine how many of us feel about them heading into a playoff run
August 22Aug 22 Actually think this makes more sense than verlanders. Hate losing the Braves rivalry in NL east but you still keep them in NL. Makes more sense than Minnesota in the south. Rockies and rays still flip leagues

Flipping Charlotte and Nashville makes a bit more geographical sense.

Plus Minnesota isn’t remotely in the south. Those expansion teams are likely not going to be very good for at least 3 to 4 years. You are essentially just making that division awful. It makes sense to have one in each league.
August 22Aug 22 B.S. I still think the competition across the league sux and they should GET RID OF 2 TEAMS.

I don’t think they need expansion if anything they need to contract teams like the Marlins or move them to a city with new ownership that cares. That said manfred and owners are going to add a Nashville team. Only debate is if the second team is Portland, SLC or Charlotte
August 22Aug 22 with realmuto hitting as well as he has, there’s a realistic chance with how poor the free agent market is at catcher that some team is gonna give him a 3 to 4 year (this is likely Mutual option with buyout or club option so a fake 4th year) contract and probably something like 20 mil per season. I get he’s 35, but the way he’s hit the last three months of the year and lack of catching talent in FA, I could see him cashing in. With the orioles signing one of their catching prospects to a big extension, I think Adley Richman is going to be available and i wouldn’t be shocked if we are involved in trying to deal for him. I think the Phillies would love for JT to come back on like a 2 year 30-35 mil contract but don’t want to get into a 3 (with fake 4th year contract) at JT’s age. especially if rutschman who’s a 28-year-old catcher entering his prime and controllable for another couple years and will be cheaper in $. Question is what it would cost to get rutschman? I’m guessing someone like Escobar being the centerpiece.

I would offer him a 2-year deal with a club option for a third. If some team wants to overpay and/or give him a 4- or 5-year deal, then adios.

Look at the names in the FA market they are all bad cause Perez and Contreras have club options getting picked up. I don’t think he gets a guaranteed 4 but good chance he gets 3 with a club or mutual option with a buyout 4th. It’s a really crap catcher’s market in FA and he’s still playing at a high level consistently and the Phillies have literally Marchan and DJ Vibes as the only other options in house
