The trick is the Phillies will let you down until you totally just expect them to completely implode. Then they’ll give you some hope. Then when you are just about to jump back on they’ll let you down again and start the cycle

I know this but, I just tried to switch it up and be positive and now I want to hang myself lmao.

Should we say it again about Bader playing everyday?

Funny how marsh isn’t playing tonight against a RHP. Speaks volumes for how awful he’s been lately

Bader out here playing for Nick too lmao

Their outfield being a disaster should be enough to fire Dombrowski. It’s been a complete shitshow of an outfield since he’s took over. It shouldn’t take 5 years to fix the outfield especially when Crawford is raking in minors as marsh has been awful lately.

This is the most Jekyll and Hyde ass team I ever saw.

Honestly, their manager is their friend not a damn manager. Last night when he was like well it's OK we are up 5 games he should have been flipping over a damn table. Yes, it's important to be steady and even, but there are times to kick players in the ass. They reflect him.

Tbh they are really just a mediocre team for better part of half a season. When they lose tonight they are 41-38 since that DH in Atlanta. Against the NL they are 49-42 but it’s really deceiving as they are 7-0 vs. Rockies and 42-42 against all other NL teams. Lastly 11-15 vs. current NL playoff teams. And now they don’t have wheeler to stop the bleeding

Hit on this parlay… So that’s good

A sixers-esque roll over and die performance by the Phillies.

Manager should be fired

There needs to be some accountability on this loser team. They’re a soft team with no fire or grit in their performance. They follow their calm cool and collected skipper and they just ease their way through 162 games. It’s become extremely annoying now and this has to change. I don’t expect it to but this team is dead inside. They’re a broken record. Time to flush this bullcrap

Very unlikeable team overall

Tbh i think Dombrowski deserves to be fired more for the pathetic deadlines in previous seasons and offseasons the past two years. I think Thomson can be fired too but imo Dombrowski has wasted more money and trade assets to make this team have to rely on guys like marsh, Kepler, Castellanos, Ross and Romano who aren’t good enough.

All good points I can't argue.

Things like alignments last night, no feel for pitching in key spots, and refusing to change the order vs Houston in the WS tell me he is not a manager who will win a WS. He doesn't have the instincts.

Don’t get me wrong I’m fine if they move on from Thomson. Frankly i think they need a new voice and vibe with this team. Like i think Thomson has his flaws and warts. But really id be more about firing him over everything if Dombrowski did his job better. I feel like every year we are playing with a bad outfield and our bullpen is a disaster until the trade deadline when we finally acquire help.

I think you are right. Lurie is the best owner in the city and it isn't close. He never would put up with the ineptitude the others do.

I think they could use a new voice in that locker room. And I don’t even think Thomson is a bad manager. Do I think he’s a great manager? No I don’t. to me they’re bigger issue is the guy who is yet to replace Rhys Hoskins as he has been done for a season. or gone for 3 years. Or seemingly every year we are having to build up the bullpen because he doesn’t do enough in the off-season or tries to go cheap like Kimbrel or Romano or Ross and it blows up in his face.

I think the biggest issue with this team is when expectations where they are the favorite and they’re expected to win then they crumble. Every time that happens they crumble. Go back to 2022, their September was not good. Went 11-14. If it wasn’t for the Brewers collapsing over the last 2-3 weeks of the season they might have missed the playoffs. Because the pressure of making the playoffs almost got to them. Once they got in, there was no pressure until they got themselves up 2-1 against the Astros. Then everybody was like oh they’re gonna win a World Series and then they crumbled.

Go to the 2023 season. Again, people doubted they were gonna beat the Braves and they weren’t the favorite. They upset the Braves as the underdog, and then went against the dbacks. People were still doubting that they were gonna win a World Series at that point. They got up 2-0 in that series and everybody was like all the Phillies gonna win the World Series. And that’s when they crumble.

2024 they started the season off hot. That was one of the best starts in Phillies history. Everybody was on their bandwagon that the Phillies were going to win the World Series. then the next 102 games they went 51-51 and got their ass handed to them by the Mets in the nlds.

Go to this year when the wheeler news came out that he had a blood clot. they went on to play their best series of the year against the Mariners. And everybody was like oh they can’t without wheeler. It’s over for them. They played their best series of the year. And then everybody jump back on the bandwagon after that Seattle series. Then they didn’t look very good against the nationals, especially against the nationals bullpen. then they looked at atrocious against Mets. they don’t play well under pressure and as the favorite. They press, they swing at crap and their bullpen falls apart.

Interesting points that are true. They don't handle the pressure well. They collapse and go ice cold. How does a team hammer the ball so well in game 3 vs Houston and turn to ice? That AZ collapse was inexcusable.

One thing that came to mind is they don't play small ball. Not trying to go back to Robby T, but it has to come from him and the hitting coach. Think back to the series years ago vs the Cardinals and all the little things they did to get runs vs Roy and Cliff.

Not hitting vs Houston? No lineup changes, which he thankfully does now. Bunt to advance a runner in that series or vs AZ? Nah. Change their approach at the plate? Nope.

You are spot on there are flaws with the construction. Every team gets cold, though. They need a louder voice in the clubhouse you are also right about that, but good teams do small things. Phillies don't.
