Buehler gets a nice round of applause for his first start we’ll take 5IP 1 run. Already a better start than Nola

Best thing the Phillies did was put Stott at the bottom of the lineup

Changing where his bat and hands sit was huge. This is why I said early in the year when he was struggling, that if he left the Phillies, he’d go to an organization with a better hitting coach that would maximize his talent. The fact that Kevin long sat around after last year and then we did another four months to finally work with him in this is just mind blowing. It shouldve been done way sooner.

I’ll give him credit of even doing anything at all with him this season. It’s good to see positive results when doing your job for once

The thing that bothers me about it is that I mentioned this earlier in the year. The way Stott was swinging, and it was not conducive to hitting with any sort of exit velocity. It’s why his exit velo was not good. Because they moved his bat in his hands, he’s able to generate more power to have solid exit velocity. Been an increase. So instead of hitting a weak ground ball it’s a hard hit ball pass the shortstop second baseman, and when he does get it in the air it’s not a lazy fly ball. maybe Stott didn’t want too and wasn’t listening but it feels like they just thought he’d eventually return to 2023 when even his 2023 was kind of a mirage cause it wasn’t sustainable with what his exit velo was

The Giants and Reds are both 1 game behind the Mets. The Diamondbacks are 2.5 games behind the Mets (but are losing at the moment).

Really surprised the dbacks are even 2.5 behind. That team has a ton of injuries and traded away guys. Gallen (before last start) and Rodriguez have pitched much better lately though

Cardinals are 3.5 back, but are losing to the Brewers right now.

The last wild card spot is fairly wide open with this 7-game losing streak the Mets are on.

Mets aren’t gonna make it. Their schedule is going to knock them out even with the Nats and marlins for 6. Giants got dodgers 7 more times but also finish with 3 vs. Rockies to end the year. Reds schedule is the easiest as the cubs don’t really have much to play for. And brewers last series of the year might have clinched a bye and 1 seed

Patrick Bailey (yup same guy who hit a walk off inside the park homer against us) just hit a walk off grand slam for the giants against the dodgers. Up 5 games for the 2 seed. Believe that magic number is 10

Mick Abel has a 24.75 ERA in 2 games with the Twins

Almost seems like this is going too fast. We certainly don’t want to take the foot off the gas for two weeks and lose the edge. Maybe chasing the Brewers will be enough.

6 months would be around March/april. I tend to think they’ll be more cautious. Might not see him again til June or July

Tbh the analytics indicated he was due for a regression with how hitters exit velo had been. Add on his career has always been a drop off in the 2nd half.

Big spot for marsh vs. LHP

Productive out but really should’ve been bunting the runners over
