I expected the dodgers to win this series. I said it a month ago that they were a better team. Imo it’s easier to move on when i had accepted that they have to play their best to beat the dodgers and sadly they once again haven’t.

I wish I would have. I thought it won’t happen again for the 3rd time. I should have watched the start of 8 mile to set proper expectations.

Most on here felt good about playing the dodgers cause we’ve had good regular season success against them. And in past postseasons in the late 2000s owned them. I watched the dodgers in September. Their offense was playing like they thought and their starters were peaking. Bullpen was trash but how the nlds schedule set up they could piggyback guys like glasnow, Sheehan and kershaw if their starters went 6 to cut the actual bullpen innings down to maybe 1-2 innings. Now they all have created sasaki as the closer who’s really good in that role.

Talent wise, we are the better team. We have better hitters and better pitchers.

The Dodgers don’t have the turtle in them. We do and bring it out for the playoffs. That’s why we lost. They are much stronger mentally (which isn’t saying much).

Marchan was. Problem is Marchan isn’t very fast either. Plus you move him for Castellanos then he takes over RF. Now would move schwarber from DH to LF and Wilson to Rf. But moving schwarber out of DH i believe you lose your DH for the rest of game. And now also don’t have a backup catcher if game goes extra and realmuto gets hurt as removing Marchan if my memory is correct about losing DH moving schwarber. Furthermore if you use a pitcher same thing applies. So if you used let’s say bueller to pinch run (also hasn’t run bases in like 5-6 years) same applies. Plus if goes to extra you are now down another BP arm

All sound logic. On the other hand, there is no more baseball to play if you don't score that run. Not an ideal situation either way in any case.

I’ll disagree with better hitters. Ohtani is the best hitter in the game. Betts has an mvp. Freeman has an mvp and World Series mvp. Will smith is a top 3 hitting catcher in baseball (heck he’s not even playing full games cause he’s playing with a hand he broke a month ago). Plus they have teoscar Hernandez who’s basically their castellanos. I’d add Pages has 27 HRs an 86 RBI hitting 8th. Thats their 8 hole hitter. I like our lineup but the Phillies were 28th in chase rate and dodgers aren’t. It’s a amajor difference why dodgers get better pitches to hit than the Phillies. So when Phillies get a good pitch have to be perfect otherwise they are screwed.

Also i think Phillies starters without wheeler are likely the same or slightly worse. Snell has won 2 cy youngs. Has been absolutely ridiculous since August. I’d argue it’s been some of the best pitching of his career. That includes his cy young years. Yamamoto has had a below 0.50 era in September and October this year. A 2.49 era this year. He’s gonna finish top 5 cy young in NL. Ohtani a 3 is pretty ridiculous. Doesn’t include glasnow who’s their 4. Phillies have Sanchez who’s phenomenal and luzardo pitched great last night. As well as Ranger. But their 4th starter is a bad year nola.

I do think overall Phillies bullpen is better but how the nlds schedule set up the dodgers have been able to use glasnow, Sheehan out of the pen (Sheehan has been very very good this year). They also managed to fix sasaki. He’s been a savior for them as a closer cause rest of that pen is trash.

It goes back to what i said earlier. It’s poor roster construction for the nlds knowing you are having 3 platoons. Should want more positional players than someone like Taijuan Walker who is not going to be used.

Who makes the roster decisions? Topper or Dombrowski? Having Walker on the roster is completely useless.

Dombrowski most likely

Tbh if you sign Alonso he’s probably gonna be your DH and Harper stays at first. Alonso isn’t a good defensive 1b. Then if you sign Bellinger or Tucker then have a OF of bader and marsh platoon in LF, Crawford in cf and Tucker/Bellinger in RF

You need to be the GM. They won't do much of that at all

I've said this countless times. The World Series loss to Houston while sucky, it was still a great ride. That 23 NLCS loss will go down probably in the top 5 all time Philly sports choke jobs. I believe they beat Texas if they advanced. Ever since then, the big 3 have been nothing but choke artists.

The thing that irritates me with Dave Dombrowski, and people that defend him, is the fact they’ve given him the most amount of money to spend out of any GM the Phillies have ever had. The reason why the Phillies keep making the playoffs is because they spend money and their players are good enough in the regular season to survive the wasted money but when the pressure is on and need guys in postseason that’s where wasting money hurts.

Like let’s look at the playoff roster right now and how much dead money Dave Dombrowski has gear to guys that aren’t gonna help this team in this series. Taijuan Walker is making 18.5 million dollars. Jordan Romano is making $10 million. Joe Ross is making $4 million. Max Kepler is making $10 million and he has the same production that Kody Clemens had this year. Go look at their stats they are nearly identical. Heck you have a platoon with a guy making $20 million. So add that all up. It’s 62.5 mil on players who aren’t worth their value. That’s without the tax money they’re paying on it. That is a significant amount of money that should’ve been used to help you get over the top against the team like the Dodgers. Except it’s not because you’ve flushed it down the toilet.

I hope they don't sell out next year 1 game and no one buys the overpriced food they pimp out every game on TV. The Dumb veggan tells everyone how great the meat is then MCcarthy and Kruk act like they have not eaten in years slobbering all over the food, then the commercial for pills you can take if you are diabetic

I still lay the blame most on Middelton

I’d lay more blame if he wasn’t already spending money. He basically paid Romano $10 mil which after taxes is $18 mil. And Kepler $10 mil which is again 18 mil. Ross is $4 which is like $7 mil. That’s essentially $45 million he gave to Dombrowski this offseason and he completely pissed it away.

I dont want to read this whole thing but yes, better hitters, especially the bottom of the line up. We were deeper and better talent wise.

Dodgers bottom of lineup has a 27 HR and 86 RBI CF in pages. He’s hitting 8th. Currently Will smith who’s a top 3 hitting catcher is hitting 9th he’s hitting .296 with 16 HRs and 61 rbi (would be higher missed time with broken hand). Those two guys are better than relamuto, Stott and castellanos/kepler. It’s not even close. Heck muncy as their third guy in the bottom has better numbers than Stott, relamuto, Kepler and close to Castellanos

Let me point this out because most people on here don’t watch the Dodgers. Mookie Betts has not had a great year. Yet analytics shown he’s had an equal year to Bryce. Imo Betts is their 3rd best hitter on that team after Ohtani and freeman (great year). So their third best hitter in a down year was as good as Bryce.

There’s a reason Vegas had dodgers as the favorite to win the World Series from wire to wire. That’s not by accident. They have more talent with especially with wheeler hurt.

You forgot Bader. No, their line is not better. Turner had a .305 batting average and was playing really well before his injury. Schwarber was an MVP candidate. Harper was having a down year but you expect him to be ready in the playoffs.

So no, the Dodgers don't have a better team than us. Our starters were better, our bullpen was better and you can call the hitters a tie if you have to. We lost because we turtled, I don't need 500 more stats to tell me otherwise.

They also have a team. The Phillies have a group of individuals who no longer compliment each other

Well we have at least 3 MVT's. Most Valuable Turtles so there!

I don't know why but that bunt thing is hitting me as hard if not harder than the AZ SB. It's sickening.

Ohtani going to win another MVP

Freeman second best hitter on that team is an mvp, had a great year and is a ws mvp

Betts had a statistical season similar to Bryce. Thats their 3rd best player and the Phillies 2nd best hitter.

Hernandez is their Castellanos but better numbers.

Pages this year .272/.313/.461/.774 with 27 HRs and 86 RBI out of the 8. Harrison bader is .277/.347/.449/796 with 11 HRs and 56 rbi. I love bader. Pages is having phenomenal year. If anything it’s a push.

Furthermore the analytics back it up the dodgers lineup is better. The numbers don’t lie.

I will ask you this question how many Dodgers games have you actually watched this year? There’s no other teams that have an 8 hole hitter hitting 27 home runs and 86 RBIs and the guy betting behind him is arguably one of the best hitting catchers in baseball.

As annoying as he is, he isn’t the main problem. It’s the big money guys. They lost it for us.
