I still love Harper but, he has to hold it together and hopefully they get a better bat behind him. I think he still has another great year in him. After that who knows but, I think he has at least one moreTbh probably has a right to be upset with Dave. Dombrowski could’ve just said Bryce stays healthy next year we expect him to be back to mvp form. Would’ve been fine. Dombrowski running his mouth doesn’t help matter. Frankly he probably wouldn’t be thrilled if players and coaches said things about his bad offseason moves and deadlines prior to this year. It was arguably dumb to say it out loud even if he felt that way. reading the zolecki article, boras kind of alludes to what I’ve been saying that he’s seeing less and less pitches in the zone (even this postseason was a drop off from last) and he’s beginning to see his chase rate go up trying to do more but seeing less. Was also a shot in there at the fact they need better protection behind him cause besides chase rate, the analytics in the games he played were on par from previous years even though he’s seeing less pitches. He’d see more pitches if we had a legit cleanup hitter and our cleanup spot wasn’t 20th out of 30 teams in OPS

Castellanos, realmuto and Bohm aren’t cleanup hitters
Saturday at 10:13 PM2 days More important things right now, no Bichette tonight, he would fit right into this lineup of broken down players

He did not have an elite season like he has in the past. I guess we will only find out if he becomes elite or if he continues to be good. Can he rise to the next level again? I don’t really know that answer. He is the one that will dictate that. I don’t think he is content with the year he had, and it wasn’t a bad year. But when you think of Bryce Harper, you think elite. You’re thinking of one of the top 10 players in baseball. I don’t think it fit into that category. He is a very good player.”

His career slashes are .294/.337/.469/.806. Really dragged down by his 2024 season. Add on in seasons where he played 100+ games he’s avg 23 HRs and 91 RBI.

He was better off saying Bryce was dealing with some injuries and missed time so it affected his overall production. We believe he could be even better next year and Bryce probably agrees. Would’ve been the simplest way of going about it and not cause a stirFrankly Harper being upset about it feels more like he’s trying to say you made me upset and you can make it up to me by giving me more money

However i think the next power move is Harper can ask for a trade (unlikely) or boras saying what he did to zolecki which kind of reinforces that Dave needs to actually do something to help him. Felt like that article was purposefully put out by boras to put the Phillies feet to the fire and actually do something about the cleanup spot.
Yesterday at 12:26 AM1 day Dodgers in a world of trouble if their starting pitching is going to be laboring early in games.
Yesterday at 01:56 AM1 day I’d say 2 run lead is enough with Yamamoto at 71 pitches. but if you make him work this inning then get the dodgers BP for 2 innings have a shot if you can keep it at 2
Yesterday at 02:02 AM1 day Dodgers starting pitching is just too much, Scherzer VS ohatani is a loss most likely

Jays have hit him well in his career. Also seen him a ton as he was with the rays. So good scouting reportThat said dodgers SP is ridiculous. Phillies are the closest to being able to match it with wheeler. It’s why it’s irritating we have yet to just get a cleanup hitter cause it might have been the difference in winning that series.
