Bryce Harper slugging% last 5 seasons: .615 -> .514-> .499 -> .525 -> .487

At 33, there is absolutely zero rational reason to expect that trend to reverse.

Schwarber is NOT hitting .240 with 56 HR this year.

At 33, Turner will almost certainly see a dip in his .304 batting average from last year and his power (15hr) almost certainly stays in the same place.

Bohm and Stott are who they are. JT will either be a year older or gone.

Wheeler will be 36 on opening day with 1 foot in the retirement door. Ranger is gone and Painter has shown no signs of being able to produce reliably at that level in AAA, let alone MLB.

This team is regressed across the board aside from their 8th inning bullpen upgrade. I'm telling you guys they will not make the playoffs.

Well the issue is that the entire team is at the point where a year older means worse and not improved.

I agree. And, I saw how the Dodgers pitching looked against this lineup in the playoffs. Very concerning.

But, what are we gonna do? Break up the team? Gotta retool the best we can and go back at it.

I got nothing against Crawford, but he is unproven. I like how Bader gave a spark to the team and lead off with Trea Turner out.

I don't like the team dragging their feet on Bader, telling us it's Realmuto or Bader, signing a lower cost RF, and relying on the unproven Crawford.

You're already spending a bunch of money. Gonna need to spend more and trade some minor leaguers to compete.

This is not the time to get gun shy and play it conservative. Take your shot now. These guys are getting older. Give them the support they need.

IMO, the best thing Dombroski has done is call Harper not elite. Only thing he's said or done that makes me think he actually is in touch with this roster and its limitations.

Rollins has more home runs than Larkin, hits than Trammel, a better fielding % than the Oz, was an mvp, clutch in the post season, and won a ws. He’s top 10 all time in hits/hr/r/sb for a ss…not sure how he’s not a hall of famer.

While I tend to agree, being only a 3-time All-Star is a pretty weak resume for the Hall of Fame. The fact that he has an MVP in a non-All Star year helps his case though.

His WAR is lower because most of the other Shortstops in his era were roided up freaks like A Rod, Tejada, Nomar, etc.

Also, as good as Tulo was, his numbers were definitely inflated by a lot playing at Coors Field (.320 with a .949 OPS vs .269/.791 on the road)

Jeter was definitely the best shortstop of that era, by far, but I'd put Rollins up there against anyone else

Bichette plays short stop on the jays he can play 2nd too. That being said I don't think he is going back there anyway

I would much prefer them not re-sign JT, trading Bohm for cheap right handed OF depth, and then signing Bichette to 3B and rolling with Marchan and Stubbs at C. I have zero doubt the team would be improved, younger, and it would provide a needed locker room shake up. I think the money would ultimately wash out, if that’s the Phillies big concern.

I doubt DD can thread that needle, though.
