If he was offered any like $12 mil or more per season for 3 years he should’ve taken it.

So they are going to pay him 20 million of a 20 million dollar deal to leave?

Yup

You guys realize they could lose Ranger, lose Realmuto, sign Bichette, trade Bohm, and tack a year of age onto Bryce/Trea/Wheeler/Schwarber and this team is still WAY worse on paper. I don't think anyone fully appreciates the extent to which we are just shuffling deck chairs on the titanic here.

I kind of disagree only because I think bichette is a major upgrade over bohm. Also I’m making the assumption that if the outfield stinks before the trade deadline they will add someone to the outfield then. So going into the postseason I’d argue it’s a much more complete roster offensively and pitching wise with wheeler back than it was last year.

Cool. Cant wait to see him in 2034.

We knew Ranger was gonna go, we need money for offense. If Wheeler is ok, the starting pitching will be good still. The bullpen got better. Bryce had a down year so as long as he is not starting to slip, he will be better. Adding Bichette and Garcia, the offense will be much better. The defense is gonna stink but perhaps we score more runs so an a few extra base hits/errors, will not impact the games much. Who cares what the years of those guys are. They give themselves a 2 year window to try to win, after that, they will be bad for 4-5 years until the next core. They just need a serviceable catcher somehow and they will be good to go.

Bryce is mid slip, not starting to slip...

Fingers crossed man, that's all we can hope for.

Tbh jeffers makes the most sense if the twins are open to dealing with him. His offensive numbers were similar to JT last year.

That said JT may end up looking dumb. I don’t think there’s a lot Kd teams lining up for a 35 year old catcher offering him 3 years. Might get a contract where it’s 1 year and he has a player option or mutual option

For the record, I'm not arguing that the Phillies are out here making terrible decisions right now. I think their terrible decisions have been the failure to reliably identify and bring minor league players along into upper echelon big league players....and their approach to the corner outfield in the offseason for the last 2 years culminating in the appalling reality that the salary of their entire 2026 outfield will be downright microscopic compared to the total money they've thrown at useless half measures and various other positions with players that won't even contribute meaningfully in 2026.

But that's water under the bridge. They can't give Ranger that money. Letting him walk was the right move. Just because it was the right move doesn't mean it doesn't make them worse in 2026 though. I'd say the same thing about letting JT walk.

They built a nice roster and had some good times with good teams (albeit not great ones). It's frustrating they couldn't make the right moves to get over the top, but it is what it is. I just think this group has passed its expiration date and there's absolutely nothing anyone can do about it besides eventually be forced into acknowledging it and rebuilding.

The farm system has been a joke.

More on him. This is an excellent signing

Dodgers sign Tucker per Passan. Completely absurd at this point.

Baseball wont be watchable this year. The same team signs the best FA on the market 3 years in a row.

Very cool signing. Who the heck is the best hitter the Phillies have brought up through the international pool to their big league roster in the last 20-30 years?

I think it’s Maikel Franco with no close second. Ooof.

They are due.

I’d like to see the Dodgers win the next 5 WS. Not because I want to reward them; I can’t stand them. But because I want the players and sport to be punished for refusing a salary cap. You don’t want it? Cool. Only 26 players actually get to compete for a ring. In fact, the only competition for a ring will be the young guys competing for a Dodgers roster spot in spring training. The rest of you can count your cash and have as much shot at winning a WS as the fans in the stands. Maybe then it’ll start to bother them.

Tucker to the La Yankees. Nice.

I hope he gets hurt again. I hope they all do. F that sport until they stop this BS

I understand the frustration with that team and the sport…I just have a weird sideways approach to it. What could dilute the memory and legitimacy of back-to-back WS titles? How about 7 in a row going down in infamy as the reason the sport prevented teams from buying rosters with absolutely no sense of competition….

$60 MILLION AAV?!?!?

Thank God we signed Schwarber.......

This probably Fs us with Bichette
