January 16Jan 16 Just now, iladelphxx said:$60 MILLION AAV?!?!?I’m guessing a massive portion of it is deferred

I don’t think it’s entirely out of the realm for him to go back to Toronto. Never know dodgers might just give him a 1 year $40 mil at this point lol
January 16Jan 16 The difference between the Dodgers and Mets payroll is larger than the combined payroll of 11 teams. Let that sink in.
January 16Jan 16 Maybe this will light a fire under us if we get Bo and really play our best against LA. Need Wheeler to be back to form and Nola to get his head out of his you know what though.

No other team besides maybe the New York market has the TV contract, the market space and no one has Ohtani to capture the Asian market to make enough money to put aside deferred payments every single year for the next 21 years then still put a roster together that’s paying 400+ million dollars.

Just use a contract with Jt 3 years but defer a portion of it so you can afford to stack your team to have a shot at the dodgers. The issue goes back to what I said before a lot of these teams don’t want to defer the money at the rate. The Dodgers are doing because you’re still gonna have to pay at some point. The difference is because the Dodgers in the market are in, the TV contract is way bigger for them, and the fact Ohtani brings in so much money for them in foreign markets that they can afford to do that and get away with it.

I’ll tell you this, assuming we get Bo and can find a catcher, if we face them in the playoffs, it will be one of the most intense matchups of all time for us. The hate will be real lol.

Frankly i Diaz is a big addition but i don’t think dodgers bullpen is significantly better. They are better lineup with Tucker if the Phillies just roll with what they got and bring back JT. They’ve needed a bichette past couple years. The new CBA if there’s a salary, cap is going to allow teams to buy out contracts and not hurt teams. Because there was no seller cap before. That said I’m not so sure there’s going to be a salary cap. I think there’s gonna be a floor. And I think they’re gonna put a cap on how much deferment payments you can have so the Dodgers can’t exactly do what they’re doing. People can say it’s really not that big of an advantage but it is because they keep going to that well and kicking that can down the road. it’s really not that big of a advantage but it is because they keep going to that well and kicking that can down the road. So they can fit more guys into the roster now by doing it.

Tucker going to the Dodgers helped and hurts the Yankees. It helps because it’s one less team that would be in on him. Although I don’t think the Dodgers would’ve been. But also hurt because Kyle Tucker getting $60 million per is gonna say to Bellinger he should be getting something close to it. He was better analytically than Tucker this year. Close in 2023. They are basically the same age. I don’t think the Yankees believe he’s worth $60 mil AAV
January 16Jan 16 Can we do Bo and Bader? That would be a great response but we don’t have unlimited funds.
