I honestly would have went in another direction as it relates to JT, regardless of Bichette. He has no business demanding and getting three years. There goes $15M less to spend on an impact player next season.

Tbh they aren’t catching the Dodgers. They also don’t have the money to spend after signing Jt Realmuto.

Again, this is why I said at the beginning of the off-season if you’re not committed to going all in and adding one big bat along with Jt and Schwarber, then you really should just let those two guys walk. you’re gonna get into a bad contract with them when you need that money freed up for your next core. Add on they still have no plan behind JT for the foreseeable future. Which is sad because you’ve known Jt was getting older and you needed his replacement two or three years ago. And yet you have done nothing to solve that

Now you’re gonna be stuck in more contracts when you likely need money when that new core is ready. Unless you were fully committing to the next two years with Wheeler to winning a title and going all out and then understanding you’re probably gonna be bad for 4 to 6 years then you shouldn’t have paid schwarber or Jt. just save the money this off-season, take a step back, let it build up and see where your core is after 2026 and after 2027 then made the splashes. Now add more money tied up to older players that hinders future moves on guys who likely declined when you need the money and you aren’t winning anything as you have the same fatal flaws with arguably a more questionable rotation.
