All I know is if they don’t sign Realmuto those dbags better sign kris Bryant in 2020. You could move bohm over to first and Hoskins could be your DH when the DH comes to the NL

Time to face reality , this team is going nowhere for a very long time

Yeah I’ve accepted that but I’d still love to see a lineup that has harper, Bryant, hoskins in the middle of it.

was a report the Phillies might wait A year until Theo Epstein Is available.

I like Theo but this franchise doesn't have the luxury of waiting another year. They need a competent team President and GM sooner rather than later.

I’d agree except i think they are boned anyway. Listening to middleton’s zoom presser was eye opening. They have a moron owner who has no clue how to run this franchise. And they begun to use the covid spin

kim batiste dead 52

Wow - sad.  I’ve never seen someone redeem himself in the course of one game like he did.

RIP Joe Morgan.  HOF 2B who was part of the 1983 Phillies NL Champion team after winning titles with the Reds in the 70s

Zero chance Realmuto gets $200m. That’s laughable.

Only takes one stupid team to give him 25 mil per year for 8. i do see a team going like 6 years 150-160

Well, he shouldn't get a record-shattering contract.  He should slot in somewhere along the lines of what Grandal is getting -- $18.25M per season.

He's 28 and the Phillies need him; those things are true.  7 years at $140M should be the maximum offer.  If he signs for considerably more elsewhere then there's not a lot that can be done -- the player has to show some commitment, too.

Love Realmuto but you cant give up everything for him. Hopefully he decides to stay. The Sixto thing is a sunk cost, no need to make another bad decision on top of it by signing JT to way too much money.

Curious how COVID will impact team’s ability to spend on 2020 free agents.

He’s actually 29 now but turns 30 in March so really the contract is kicking in when he’s 30. Was 27(turned 28 a couple weeks later) when we dealt for him. It’s why if they were gonna make that trade and get into a long term contract of like 7-8 years you do it then. You void arbitration so you pay more but really you would’ve likely gotten 5-6 prime years of Realmuto that you were paying for and only 1-2 declining years. Now basically at 30 if he signs a 7 year deal you are paying for hopefully 4 prime years and then 3 years he is declined.

I wonder if MLB goes to the universal DH full time in the near future.  At least Realmuto could still be a useful run producer to about 35 if the team switched him into a designated hitter role.  Unfortunately the Phillies made the trade without doing a long term extension — sometimes that’s just how it plays out.  The Phillies were losing games almost solely on terrible play at the catcher position, both offensively and defensively before acquiring him.

The Phillies lineup offensively is very good — less so without JT, who protects Harper.  Defensively he’s also quite good.  I see him as a cornerstone piece for the next 5 years, and the Phillies will have to pay him Grandal-money.

I really don’t think he’s come back. I think the Yankees are gonna blow that market out of the water because they don’t particularly like how Gary Sanchez has developed. To me you don’t make that trade unless you knew you had to re-sign him at any cost. That is way too much to give up if you thought that this could only be a two year rental. They overpaid for him if that was the case. You could move him to DH patisserie because at some point in time you’re gonna have to play Harper in that same spot because I don’t think he’s going to age gracefully enough to play the outfield.

all I know is if Realmuto leaves then they better be in the kris Bryant market in 2021. You’re saving a bunch of money so you can afford to go get that bat. Have him play 3, move hoskins to DH and have bohm at first.

Excuse not to spend

Well the Dodgers are doing what they do best- choking. If they don't win it all this year, then they never will.

Both ATL and TB are built around pitching, defense, and home-grown talent .....

The Phillies are a looong way away

Honestly feels like since 08 every time the dodgers face an NL East team they lose. Phillies twice, Mets beat them to go to the nlcs, nats and now braves

I hate all these teams <_<

It would be nice if the Phillies could draft and develop like those organizations. One can dream i guess that they will eventually get it right.

It boggles my mind why the Phillies can’t or won’t just hire away the Braves or Rays upcoming front office talent.
