All the money the boomers paid already is gone.  Trumps payroll tax cut simply threatens the money the millennials are paying to fund the boomer retirement

And Gen X.  And anyone else still working.

Your point is?

Well it’s not "permanent” as the meme says. I also think it was expected to run out around 2035 but I didn’t look that up it’s just what someone told me, not a reliable source.

Either way some people are fine with cutting the payment into Social Security now and not getting their part back later. I’d honestly be fine if there was a cutoff date and I never see a penny from social security if it means the next generation will never have to pay into it.

Trump's promised if he's reelected it'll be permanent (not that his promises mean anything), but if he did, it would end SS.  So, he's promised to end SS.  That should be a winning message in Florida and Arizona.

True.  The main thing is rebutting the point that "all the money you paid your whole life will be gone”

it already is gone.  The social security trust fund is backed by treasuries

I work for state government and I’m already exempt from paying social security but im also forced to pay 7.5% to the currently 83% funded pension and I don’t get to collect social security if I spend my whole career in government

There's a reason Congressional Republicans didn't want him to do this.  They're about to all get hammered for trying to end SS.  It's a disaster for every single one of them.

Ok. I’d still be fine with it. Gonna get rid of social security at some point anyway.

You may be okay with it, but it's a losing strategy if your goal is to win swing states.  The 1 thing the Dems that won in 2018 had in common is that they beat the drum on protecting SS and Medicare.  The American people have made it abundantly clear over the years that they want those two programs in place and they'll turn on anyone that threatens them.

Don't worry, "defund" doesn't mean abolish, right?  We could just reallocate resources to other areas and have more citizen-led support for these programs without the threat of the government involved. :P

Say what you will about Biden, but the man is very close with his family.  Here is a lovely picture of him with his grand daughter

he kissed his granddaughter. in video, it was literally the definition of a peck, something I would assume every person here has exchanged with their grandparents

are we supposed to be outraged?
