I also think it was expected to run out around 2035 but I didn’t look that up it’s just what someone told me, not a reliable source. Either way some people are fine with cutting the payment into Social Security now and not getting their part back later. I’d honestly be fine if there was a cutoff date and I never see a penny from social security if it means the next generation will never have to pay into it.

Trump's promised if he's reelected it'll be permanent (not that his promises mean anything), but if he did, it would end SS. So, he's promised to end SS. That should be a winning message in Florida and Arizona. https://www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2020/08/08/trump-payroll-tax-cut/

I work for state government and I’m already exempt from paying social security but im also forced to pay 7.5% to the currently 83% funded pension and I don’t get to collect social security if I spend my whole career in government

Gonna get rid of social security at some point anyway.
August 10, 20205 yr Good, I hope he eradicates SS, its a ponzi scheme and just a wonderful F You from the boomer generation that generations of future Americans will have to pay for

You may be okay with it, but it's a losing strategy if your goal is to win swing states. The 1 thing the Dems that won in 2018 had in common is that they beat the drum on protecting SS and Medicare. The American people have made it abundantly clear over the years that they want those two programs in place and they'll turn on anyone that threatens them.
