(that's probably true for most professsions) their salaries are adjusted accordingly. they're paid for the time they work. they don't have "3 months off". they're paid for the 9-10 mos of the year they work. and many of those days off you mention during the school year are days off for students, not teachers. many are in-service days. They aren't teaching kids those days though. I have those "days" too. Its called the week of thanksgiving, and weeks of christmas and new years. My job that normally involves at least150 calls/emails a day will have like 30 total over the 3-day work week. I work those days aka just catch up on tv shows and movies

I would have the same issue with Democrats if they ratcheted up spending but declined to raise taxes to pay for them. If you're going to reduce taxes, that's great; cut spending. Don't tell the people you can cut taxes without cutting gov't services and entitlements. Don't tell the people that you can increase gov't services without raising taxes. One-time expenditures like stimulus is also different from expanded services that adds to discretionary or mandatory spending every year. And if we hadn't ramped up deficit spending for a tax cut we didn't really need we would be in a better position to deal with the debt caused by COVID. It's pretty amazing that the Republicans managed to pass a tax cut ahead of an election year that proved wildly unpopular.
