That's wild man..... next you will tell me there was a lot more spent on gasoline in 2021 vs 2019

Without using any references it wouldn't surprise me to learn more was spent on fuel in 2019. Might be wrong.

Market's up. I know the right focusses on economic criticism whether it's warranted or not, but the economy's doing pretty amazing compared to where it was a year ago. Not much to complain about.
December 14, 20213 yr My Christmas is gonna be both "lit" and hectic as F. Over the course of 2 days I have like 50 people coming through my house. Both guest rooms will be full and part of the basement will become a suit for 4 for 3 or 4 days. I have a buffet style meal for Christmas eve, mostly Italian foods with a smoked ham thrown in. Then Christmas I have a huge prime rib to smoke.

That's wild man..... next you will tell me there was a lot more spent on gasoline in 2021 vs 2019 From what to can tell based on projections, we'll consume fewer gallons of gasoline in 2021 vs 2019. But for the year, and this is an at a glance approximation but I don't think it's far off, gas averaged closer to $2.55/gal in 2019 and more like $3.05 in 2021 (gas prices didn't go over $3 until May after starting the year at $2.31). So gas cost about 20% more in 2019 vs 2021. So if I had to guesstimate we're paying like 15% more on gas vs 2019. Pretty significant. Good news it's trending down pretty strongly heading into 2022 now that oil rigs are getting back online. OPEC adding to supply in Jan will help further.

How far are they up compared to inflation? I haven't looked into any nationwide data, so just going by who's around me, very few got raises worth jack the past two years. (and a very, very quick google search looks like its trailing and the trend likely to continue next year)

December 15, 20213 yr Since I'm googling.... Quote Inflation has taken away all the wage gains for workers and then some Real average hourly earnings when accounting for inflation, actually decreased 0.5% for the month. A 0.9% inflation increase negated a 0.4% rise in wages. Consumer confidence has been sliding despite the rising wages, which are up nearly 5% nominally year over year but have declined 1.2% in real terms. The Fed finds itself under increasing pressure to adjust policy accordingly. Looks like peoples ability to purchase the presents for their children is being taken away. Stolen if you will.

Pat yourself on the back… a meme in 2021 isn’t false even though it’s a 50 year problem. Let’s blame democrats because they have the presidency RIGHT NOW. Context isn’t important.
