Obama's deficit reduction didn't happen until after the GOP took over Congress and cut spending. Build Back Better and Green New Deal would have been passed if it wasn't for Manchin and Sinema. I'll give the 3 of them credit for reluctantly signing budgets they didn't want to pass

They all deserve a lot more credit when it comes to deficit reduction than any Republican President in recent memory. Fact is, if you want to reduce the deficit, elect a Democratic President. Republicans only care about balancing the budget as a political weapon, not as a matter of principled policy, so they'll never follow through when in power, only as the opposition.

If you want to be fair, each one of those guys (particularly Obama and Biden) took office after a spike in the deficit due to exorbitant spending in reaction to a recession. It's like celebrating losing 20 pounds when you're already tipping the scales at 350.

Sure, I was a gluttonous pig for 7 years and puffed up, but hey, I lost weight! 14%! Healthiest human ever! Am I doing it right?

There aren't any good options when it comes to fiscal responsibility, but a Dem President and a Republican House is the combination that garners the best results.

March 31, 20223 yr 34 minutes ago, iladelphxx said: The Budget Control Act of 2011 passed by the Democratically controlled Senate by unanimous consent, by a bipartisan majority in the House, and signed into law by a Democrat president. but it was the Republicans who did it, right? what did spending look like under Trump? Or Bush 43? I'll give you a hint: it didn't go down.
