April 1, 20223 yr EMB, if you are driving more than 30 to 40 miles a day, you absolutely cannot charge your EV with a standard outlet. It's just not feasible guys. Use your heads and wait for the tech to catch up. If you own a decent home and have extra funds, do the math and determine if the fuel savings makes sense considering the initial cost and also consider buying one. And if you really just want one and have the means, by all means you should also get one (this applies to you, @paco). Addendum : if you want to make a meme about my cooking skills, do so. I'm awesome.

You are complete incapable of taking in other factors like, i dunno, using a parking spot with a charger at some point or stopping at charging station and grabbing a coffee. (Yes, I realize this isn’t ideal but "the poors” literally do this today)

I can win a karaoke so long as I can pick the songs and the talent pool is not too deep lol. Think a Peter Cetera (sp?), but a bit more rough and edgy and not nearly as talented.

(Yes, I realize this isn’t ideal but "the poors” literally do this today) Poors often have two jobs, or work extra hours, and most certainly do not stop for coffee on the way home. Unless they want to stay poor. If work is a commute it doesn't work at all. Say they live close to work. Before i moved i was about 10 miles from my job. My car got in the mid 30s for "city" gas millage. Why bother? I'd fill it every 2 weeks. Not worth the bother for a EV at that point, just get a small economy car. Like I said, out of touch. Sounds nice. 16 minutes ago, VanHammersly said: I have a beautiful singing voice. I wish I was more musical.
April 1, 20223 yr Hey you poors that may live an an apartment or have to use a standard outlet to charge your POS car for a multitude of other reasons, buy an EV and miss your kids soccer games and chorus concerts. Paco thinks you should stop and have a cup of coffee instead. You still probably (depends) have to pay to use the charger and a few bucks for the coffee. Savings, yo!

In fact, back at our old townhouse the lesbian couple that rented next door did exactly that with their Chevy bolt. ya...but they still owned a Chevy Bolt. Nobody wants to admit to that.

Although I'm not sure why the average joe JT was worried about would need a 500 mile range. Two things. First, we make long trips in the summer over here which is when we do 80% of all our driving. Second, we want a car we can keep for 20 years. I guess the speed of charging could also solve the problem if it were to improve enough. Anyway, we aren’t talking about a commuter car in our situation. We take the subway into town. Teslas are close now. Might go for one of those. I've just wanted to wait until the tech reached a spot where I thought we could buy and then keep a car for 15-20 years.

The yard stick for us is to be able to drive across country to places on the Swedish west coast without having to charge. We are close now with the new Teslas and the quickly improving access to rapid charging over here.

Though MPG for cars available in Europe trend higher than those available here in the Freedom states.

Projections are the battery’s will lose up to 30 percent of capacity in 10 years.

And as of right now the used batteries just get tossed in a landfill because they’re aren’t many places that know how to recycle them. Damn hippies killing the planet.

Damn hippies killing the planet. Yeah it is a bit of a joke. We burn gas/coal/oil to get the electricity to power the battery and then throw it in a landfill once it isn’t useful any more.
