Ok this is misleading.

To start with, if any of them were bad at what they set out to do they would not have been billionaires. For certain with every billionaire you can point to luck as being a necessary component to their success, but it's only one of a number of traits needed.

For certain Gates was born to a family of means, but the guy was also a very gutsy and talented software engineer. He was given an opportunity, and he made himself a billionaire. That's uncommon.

Bezos was most definitely not born rich. His mother was 17 when he was born, was raised by an adoptive father who was a Cuban immigrant. Bezos himself worked at McDonald's at one point. He was also valedictorian, went to Princeton on a scholarship graduating with a 4.2 GPA, and had a successful young career before his parents agreed to empty their savings for him to start Amazon. It was a tremendous risk that worked because Bezos recognized the opportunity and timing with the internet.

Buffet's father was a respected congressman, but respected because he was super libertarian and stuck to his principles. He did well enough with his investment company but it was a tiny firm in Omaha before Warren made it cool to be an investor in Nebraska. Warren made his billions through pluck, patience, and fortitude.

Elon's father was an engineer. And he owned a few shares in an emerald mine. Elon has also been estranged from his father for 40 years, and his father did nothing to support him.

Every billionaire has a "right place right time" element to their path to a billion. But getting to a billion is incredibly difficult regardless. Lots of upper class kids have "right place right time" moments in their life that pass by them, either because they don't recognize it or because they lack the requisite traits to take advantage.

Of the above, the most hated - Bezos - is the closest to rags to riches. Born to a teen mom, who split from his biological father to ultimately marry a Cuban immigrant whose name Jeff took, he grew up middle class before earning his way to Princeton.

Can you post that one where Trump said if he were to run for president,  he would run as a Republican because they are dumb next?  Or pretty much anything from Occupy Democrats? (They can't even get the name of their meme "company" right  )

Also people focus too much on the individual when in reality some people take time to build families that will last several generations.  Pointing to the guy in the second generation and saying he had it easy isn’t fair to the grand scheme of things

Whats really sad is when one guy builds a huge business and then the generation after squanders or misuses the funds.  Think of the Rockefeller Republicans in the Nixon era

I think the "quotations” in the "meme” is to "emphasize” the "self-made”. All of these extremely talented and successful business men had mentors and partners and other people who invested in them and their talents which aided in their success.

News flash, no one is "self made" completely without advice, mentoring, financial backing etc. Every single successful person has had someone along the line who believed in them, gave them advice, encouragement and or some type of financial support. Lending institutions dont just give out loans without collateral and or co signers etc. I use the word successful, so we aren't talking about someone like the Kardashians who were born into a wealthy family or someone winning the lottery. Talking about people who worked and developed things from the ground up, still had support somewhere.

That's my goal.  Not only have enough for a very comfortable retirement, but have money left over so baby girl has a retirement as well.

The quotes in the meme makes me think it was sour grapes made by some flunkie

This is no surprise. I have been calling for a recession to start since July of last year, when I saw our industry was on record pace with 28% growth over previous highs. We have been setting records every month since in the US in our industry. Luckily between the fact that we are a lagging indicator of recession, and the backlog of orders,  we still have a few months to reap rewards of the past year and a half. Lucky for us, conversely we are a leading indicator of economy bouncing back as well.

The next 2 years could be difficult for many. The rate of inflation, causing a mass movement in the work force to find better jobs, (companies have to pay them more, causing yet more inflation) had to lead to a slow down in consumer confidence. (which we saw). and so on. It's all cyclical. You cannot print 7T$ and expect to not have this happen.

Yay us.

Cartoons can be neither man nor woman.  They can only be cartoons.

It was fake news anyway, Tucker Carlson never talked about it on his show and it was a meme someone created.    It caught New York Magazine, Rolling Stone, Salon, and Mary Sue creating articles about right wing outrage, but they didn't fact check the story.
