Without a doubt the best part of this deal is getting out of the Tucker contract. All three of Batum, Morris and RoCo are declining, but they can all hit three point shots and play a bit of defense. Kenyon Martin Jr is the interesting player in the deal, I don't think many of us watched the Rockets so I have no idea if he will be useful.

The part of the deal that is good for the Sixers  is that they got a 2028 unprotected pick, pick swap, and another first round pick. So now they actually have some assets along with those three players all have expiring contracts. So if somebody becomes available at some point in time this year they can make a trade. Or next off-season they have the assets and available cap space to make a trade with the assets or use the cap to sign guys and still have assets. That’s why this trade never made sense with Norman Powell. That contract prohibited them from making moves next off-season because his contract didn’t expire for another couple of years .

And clearing Tucker's contract off the books will also allow them to make a move in the off-season with the available cap space once those guys all come off the books along with Tobi

So when does Maxey get his extension?

Off-season. I think that's been the plan all along, they can try and sign a max player and then give Maxey his contract

Offseason. They don’t want to give him an extension yet cause if they go into free agency without giving him it, they have max cap flexibility and then can use it and then give him his max

So they think they can get Lavine when Chicago inevitably blows it up

Clippers weren't going anywhere, now they can get there faster. Great day for the Sixers.

Brilliant trade. I’m shocked Morry got such a good deal.

Reportedly, they already had trades lined up so let's see if anything hairball pretty quickly.

What are the starters looking like at the moment?

Maxey
Melton
RoCo
Harris
Embiid

Oubre
Pat Bev
Reed
Batum
Morris
Springer

I assume that will be the rotation? Oubre is excelling coming off the bench and I think RoCo/Batum/Morris all get Tuckers minutes and spell Harris

You’re forgetting KJ Martin. I think he may start at the three.

I also wonder if they try to flip one of Morris, Batum or Roco for more assets. They have a glut of players at the 3/4 between those guys, Martin and Harris.

The deal keeps getting better and better. We picked up LAC’s 2026 first:

I don't know much about him but I assume RoCo gets into the starting line-up for about 20 minutes per game and Oubre subs in for him.

OKC will probably be a pretty good team by then with all the young pieces they have but it is still a nice first to come away with. Clippers one will probably be a lottery pick in 2028

Looks like the OKC pick is actually LAC’s 2026 first round pick that OKC owned.

Now that the 76ers have massive cap space next summer, they can leverage opposing teams into trading their star players for lesser capital, otherwise, someone like Siakam or Anunoby can walk in the off-season and the Raptors get nothing.

Can the 76ers extend those guys mid season?

Could but I’m guessing unless you give them a max that being so close to FA at midseason they want to wait and test out FA.

Even better. How long do George/Leonard/Harden have left? They have no capital and I don't know how they'll go getting star players.

I was thinking one or more of those expiring may be worth another 1st round pick.

Figures, we get rid of the guy just when he’s back in shape and ready to win the scoring title again.
