They are stubborn and won't trade him like they should. It's amazing how we can't have anything nice in this city.

Thinking about the possible courses to take in the future with Embiid, I have thought of this:

I have said repeatedly that he wont win a title until he is gone from Philly and is just a ring chasing vet who has a back seat to some other star/stars on a team.

I guess it is possible to actually do that with him here.

Again, this will all be a waste of typing because the team will be too dumb, and he may be too dumb.

But they can trade off all of their expirings for picks. Trade Tobias for assets. Tank the rest of the season to improve their draft pick in June. And use assets and cap space to add stars in the summer, and next deadline.

The team has to cut Embiid's usage rate and he needs to focus on defense and rebounding, scoring on putbacks, and of course occasionally run plays for him, but not to the degree the offense runs through him.

It needs to be Maxey, and whichever star or stars they can acquire running games with each other. And Embiid in the dunker spot waiting for dumpoffs, or rebound putbacks.

It will be tough to carry Embiid's salary as a role player and still build a team good enough around him that doesnt have to rely on him being healthy to win. But thats what they have to try to do until its time for his next contract. And see if he will take a more reasonable deal next time for what his role should be.

If Embiid's ego is not ready for that hit yet, then you do just have to move on.

All he cares about is individual stats and you expect him to take a back seat? No chance. The 30/10 streaks, the 30+ game streaks, looking for another MVP, wanting everyone to like him and say how good he is….those are things he cares about. It’s never about a championship with him.

Would anyone be surprised if he tries to play in the all star game? I know I wouldn’t.

Nick Claxton is "more available than previously advertised" leading to the trade deadline.

Considering our major injury news, and the need for a Center already existed anyway....

Claxton and Finney Smith may be a big impact move that doesnt actually cost a ton.

Claxton isn't going to be cheap. At least one 1st

I would have had him in over Dame and had Brunson starting.

He doesn't play defense though and team kind of stinks.

The 30/10 was a prime example this year. Was no reason to chase that when they had a big lead. It's always been 2nd round exit mentality.

If they keep him around and they will then they need a bench guy that can get buckets to offset his points. Normal Powell would have been nice for that. Clarkson is looking meh this year.

The big question is what do they do with Tobias. Extend him but he is playing well enough might warrant a bigger deal, and that is a pass. Hope for a sign and trade that can bring back assets.

Depressing times indeed.

That's relatively cheap compared to trading for stars.  It's a move on the level of a Brogdon trade.

Anyone else worry a long term embiid injury makes Morey go full **** and trade for LaVine?

Dude can star chase but not build a team

Josh Harris should have him fired if he tries to make that

The Brooklyn Nets rejected an offer of two first-rounders for Dorian Finney-Smith, per

@NYPost_Lewis

Well that seems dumb

Supposedly Tyus Jones can be had for a couple 2nd rounders.

I wasn't big on the idea but might be a decent idea to save Maxey's legs a bit heading down the stretch.

Tyus Jones and Nick Claxton would be a heck of a nice deadline if they could pull off both.

Have to pay Claxton then and he doesn't fit with Embiid unfortunately

The team has wasted a decade of assets and time and have Maxey, a hurt Embiid to show for it, and no other young guys to look forward too.

I'm pretty sure HE and I could have run it better.

Looks like interested in DeRozen

desperation move. Give up first rounders for a 1 year rental.

Not buying it

So I held off purchasing tickets for the Heat game. I assume with Embiid out the prices might drop a little, I might wait until closer to the day because if Butler is also out the price should drop even further

He has a bucket handle tear which is an urgent surgery. He has no choice.  That's getting operated on.

The choice is what surgery.  Remove the meniscus for a quick return and a bad knee for life,  or repair the tear, miss 6-9 months and have a better quality of life long term.

I think he's done.

I say he's out of the league in 2-3 years, tops.
