Remove the meniscus for a quick return and a bad knee for life, or repair the tear, miss 6-9 months and have a better quality of life long term. I had a bucket handle tear 11 years ago, got the tear repaired, but I haven't played basketball since the surgery. Of course I was 38 and pretty terrible at the time, but you know... hopefully he recovers better than I did.
