February 5, 20241 yr So if it's a 4 month recovery he'll maybe return for the conference semi finals best case scenario. They wouldn't make it out of the first round without him
February 5, 20241 yr I don't think they expected the team to be as good as they have been this year when fullh healthy with Nurse coaching them. I think you play the long game though, the idea was to have flexibility to go and fill out the roster with the max slot available next year.
February 5, 20241 yr Gotta trade Tobi now. Are we keeping Melton for the long term? If not, he should be gone too.
February 5, 20241 yr Didn’t even realize it’s Olympic year. He should be traded in the off season. He will get more worn down and injured before next playoffs for sure.
February 5, 20241 yr I would take on a contract like PJ Washington who is is around 15 million a year for the next 3 years. He can play well with Maxey because I think missing the playoffs and letting Maxey experience the playoffs when teams will gsmeplan for him and how he counters.
February 5, 20241 yr Woj and Shams both reporting that the decision on what surgery to have won't be made until they open him up an inspect the damage and the doctor will decide what the best course of action would be

Scenario 1: He is back and ready 2-3 weeks before the playoffs. You expect him to get in game shape, wipe off the rust, and not have any lingering health issues? If he does all that, he still has to stay healthy during the playoff run. Scenario 2: He is done for the year but they won't admit it because of ticket sales. Whenever he does come back, his priority will be getting ready for the Olympics. The spotlight will be bright and all eyes will be on him. That is what he cares about. This dude will never be healthy enough to play most of a season and make a run in the playoffs. They really need to trade him this off-season. They wont. Instead, 2-3 years from now when he is hanging on by a thread and we repeat this cycle a few more times, we will trade him for half the value and then look to get younger. So another 3 years will be wasted until the real re-build around Maxey and draft picks/young prospects will happen.

I have been expecting him to go with the shorter surgical option (and worse long term prognosis) just so he can chase a gold medal for his personal trophy case. If he takes the long route, maybe he could get healthy enough for the olympics, but Im not quite sure he would even be on the team if he misses all of camp with the USA team. So hes going to choose the route that gets him back sooner. Doesnt matter if he is feeling well enough for playoffs with the 6ers- its likely all about he olympics for him.
February 5, 20241 yr What are we doing with Melton? Does he stay or go? I like him a lot off the bench but don't like him as a starter.

He does well when his role needs to increase. And plays good D. But hes an expiring deal and has missed like half the season now. So I say trade him for a pick that you can use in the summer.
February 5, 20241 yr I still think the East is open and looks like Knicks going to the to get Brodgon, Sexton, Clarkson type might just make them the favorites. So if the knee isn't total crap then make a run at it. Team won't move on from Embiid until he tells them he wants to move so every year has to be a go for it year for the next 3 years. You can still acquire mid 20s guys that will he around with Maxey. The biggest fear for Sixers fans is they give Tobias another 3 year deal around 25 to 30 a year.

Exactly what Melton was with the Grizzlies. Can fill a void for a bit but more of a combo guard off the bench. He isn't great at anything, just a quality bench player.

February 5, 20241 yr Terq and Ricky better get a lot of minutes tonight. Terq needs to add 20lbs in the next 2 years.
