Thing is there were good players to be had on expiring contracts that could have helped win a title this year, and still clear the books next year. We got 1 of them in Hield. But it wasn't enough.
February 8, 20241 yr Maybe Ingram is available in the off-season. I know @DaEagles4Life doesn’t like him but the trio of he, Maxey and Joel with Hield’s shooting would be a good start.
February 8, 20241 yr I’m not as mad right now as everyone else cause i said last offseason i expected them to talk to embiid to get him on board and figure once they dealt harden they were taking a step back in 23-24. Would be an effort to completely clear the books besides embiid, maxey and go all in on the 2024 offseason to build the roster they want. I think Embiid getting hurt made it easier for them to make a decision like that at the deadline. Still add but not F up their 2024 offseason plans. this all comes down to whatever the F their plan is this offseason. If they F it up they deserve to be criticized and ridiculed like no other. If they actually pull something off that leads us to a better place they deserve the credit. That said feels like they are gonna get burned on this plan.

They get some talent in return too. We literally have no players to trade anywhere to acquire a star via trade.

February 8, 20241 yr Trading Springer was dumb even though he can't shoot yet, they need to TRY to develop guys. Look at Nuggets, they drafted Peyton Watson last year and I wouldn't be surprised if Michael Potter Jr is available next summer because of how well Watson has played combined with his cheap contract. The salary cap restrictions only get tighter and player development is going to become important. Morey isn't the guy

February 8, 20241 yr Embiid said lots of people got better, that's fun for competition. Almost as if Joel is kinda saying something else.

Eh I’m guessing Embiid was on board with clearing potentially $65 mil in the 2024 offseason. Talked about it all offseason that they’d likely take a step back in 2023-24 and he’d have to be on board with it other he’d have asked out. I think their goal was try to compete this year and make moves that didn’t F up their cap flexibility for 2024 offseason. i said this last offseason, 2024 offseason was realistically their best chance at creating a roster that would be capable of winning a title and whatever the image the Sixers/Morey wanted. That said they are very likely to F it up and it implodes.

February 8, 20241 yr Seems like the summer plan will be to max a 34 year old oft injured Paul George who wants to be in the west coast (which isn't where Philly is located) IF he doesn't get extended in LA, which he probably will.

February 8, 20241 yr Maybe we trade for Murray in the off season. He is still young and will fit with the Maxey timeline.

Murray and Brandon Ingram if he becomes available.... Just want someone who can form a formidable scoring duo with Maxey so the team can win some games when Embiid is out. Maxey can't carry the team by himself. The free agent list is underwhelming and a lot of those guys will also be retained by their own teams so it'll be really poor. They might want to just sign some mid tier guys and keep an open max slot for that deadline. But they will probably just blow it all on keeping Harris and Hield and max some mediocre player out on the free agent market.
