February 10, 20242 yr I took a little look at Hield and Payne and tuned out in the 1st quarter. It was very unwatchable. Imagine if Morey got DeRozan to run with Maxey and keep things afloat till Embiid got back, then have a legit big 3 and great depth with Hield, Melton, Beverly.... Instead the team is gutted.

Ugly stuff
February 10, 20242 yr Cam and Hield played their first game as starters with a few g league guys, a useless Tobi and a few other stiffs. I wouldn’t judge them yet. Let’s see how it looks when Maxey, Melton and Batum are back.

He will shoot closer to his average and be better. Payne seems to be a streaky shooter but he’s not afraid to left it fly. I think he can run back up point good enough when he has some guys to pass to. Let’s see who will be available tonight.
February 10, 20242 yr Everyone’s out again tonight that was last night with the exception of Maxey. He is probable.

Hard to imagine this team healthy and remember who even plays and what the lineup would be. Looks like this. Maxey, Melton, Harris, Batum, Embiid- thats statistically the best starting 5 in the league by a wide margin. Then you have Hield, Payne, and Oubre off the bench. That bench unit can light it up. Its still a damn good team. Morey's big failure is not improving that 2nd team big unit. The front court of Reed and Bamba is no good, and Morris is gone in the Hield deal. Im not sure who will be out there to help on the buyout market. Hoping some guy shakes loose that no one has mentioned yet.
February 10, 20242 yr as far as the summer free agent landscape is concerned- rumors right now indicate DeRozan would like to stay in place if the offer is good enough, PG likely re-signs with LA and wants to be on the west coast. Miles Bridges (probably dont even want him) vetoed all trades at the deadline, and wants to stay put. LeBron prefers to finish his career in LA. As far as trades, LA is expected to offer a package around 3 1st round picks for Donovan Mitchell. You can expect Detroit to go hard after Tobias Harris. 6ers refused to include him in the Bojan/Burks deal and Detroit wanted him. We may be able to retain Hield. Other than that Im not even sure who the hell will be available. The year to go for it was probably this year.

The logic in trading for him and using the cap space is that he was as good as any potential free agent we could sign this summer anyway, and is actually not on a max deal even though people feel hes overpaid. Plus, even with his contract on the books, the 6ers would still have room for a max slot player as well.

Great skill to be able to get to the FT like and draw fouls as an UDFA. He will be dangerous when he has some shooting. As a UDFA big body guard he makes me think of a young raw Jimmy Butler.
February 11, 20242 yr Good. Take minutes away from council for a washed vet who will probably be unplayable in the playoffs and was a playoff choker anyway even in his prime. Glad we got one of Daryls former Rockets with name recognition.
