But really with the nets i don’t think he’s good enough to be the top guy or a no. 2 playing Robin. I think he’s better suited to be that 3rd guy. Not sure the nets will get that top guy to make it actually work

June 10, 20241 yr Brown with the killer carry over. They showed it from many angles. When you have no left, even the refs feel bad apparently.
June 10, 20241 yr Even if porzingis is not able to go the next couple games, i tend to think Boston is going to be fine. They have the depth to overcome it. Imo besides Tatum and brown, jrue (and frankly i think white too) is the guy they really can’t afford to lose. Jrue is such a huge advantage to have as your 3rd, 4th or 5th best guy depending on the night (white has games where he really plays like the 3rd guy). Tonight he was their best. Jrue is really good with the ball in his hands, allows Tatum and brown to also not have to always have the ball in their hands which usually helps decrease some turnovers and a calming influence. In the playoffs he’s been really good with the ball in his hands and making the right decisions. He's has an 3.3:1 ast to TO (72:22). Add on i think he does a really good job defensively on someone like kyrie. (Smart was a good defender but i think offensively he was erratic and not always great at decision making or taking care of the ball. Brogdon is solid when he plays but lately he has been injury prone and not able to trust him to stay healthy). Kyrie is really good so he’ll have spots but he makes Kyrie work. This series so far he’s averaging 19-9.5-4 and 0 turnovers. Shooting 60% and 44.4% from 3 The Porzingis trade is an obvious big time win for the Celtics and he puts them way over the top, but I think the biggest win they made this off-season was moving on from Marcus smart to get porzingis but essentially trading brogdon for jrue Holliday. Imo their biggest weakness in the past was PG with smart (and brogdon getting hurt last year during the playoffs— injury prone as the past couple years). He at times could be really good and other times like Miami last year in games 2,3 and 7. And couldn’t trust brogdon to stay healthy and frankly i think jrue is just better than brogdon. Jrue has had bad games in the playoffs before but when you have him with the ability to be the 3-5th best player he’s going to be extremely effective

Plus losing Brogdon. Lots of key depth gone there. Add in the liklihood of their big acquisition Porzingis being injured by playoff time....I thought they screwed up and this wouldn't be their year.

They got Jrue for pennies and he has been the best player in the Finals so far. Brogdon wasn't that big of a deal since they got Jrue for him and saw White had more offensive game than they thought.

Nothing they did impressed me much. Thought overall theyd take a small step back.

You know it's okay to admit you were wrong. They are what 78-20 this year Jrue is still the best defensive guard in the league even though his offensive game is up and doe

The jrue trade was a steal. They gave up injury prone brogdon (who frankly i think is somewhat overrated), Williams (also injury prone), and a 2024 first via gs (bad draft and acquired in porzingis deal) and a 2029 first. The only really valuable asset there was that 2029 first which a chance it’s not that good of a draft pick anyway. Porzingis trade was good too. Got 2 firsts (25th in 2023 and GS’ 2024 pick they used to get jrue). However with porzingis health was always a question and at that point in time the Celtics dealt smart and their replacement was brogdon who frankly is solid (i think he’s overrated) but durability concerns. Imo if the Celtics didn’t trade for jrue, their season may hinge on the health of both porzingis and brogdon. Thats a major risk to have to rely on both. Why that jrue trade looks even better then it did at the time

Hopefully it was because he was being stubborn with the asking price. Now that there are a ton of guys on the trade block, maybe it takes less than what was previously being asked. If it comes out that those two guys are available, they lose a little leverage right there. Maybe only 2-3 teams are interested and we can make it happen.
