If Durant is available, why not go for him? they don't have much to trade. i think the '28 clippers pick has the highest value of anything they could trade...and they don't have any young players to trade.

Sixers future picks in 2028-2031 are valuable cause by that time Embiid is done and a chance Maxey asks out at some point which increases the value. But yeah the Sixers don’t have young players to include with picks to do it like the rockets.
June 26, 20241 yr Author on finney-smith: Quote Finney-Smith could be what the Sixers were hoping to get out of P.J. Tucker. However, it's unclear whether the Nets would be open to swapping him for the No. 16 pick, as they rejected an offer of two first-round picks for him at the trade deadline, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post.
June 26, 20241 yr I will say this with the Knicks giving up what they did for bridges, there is a growing chance that Joel Embiid becomes available within the next year and a half. If the Sixers F up this free agency (and that’s what it’s starting to look like) then I have to imagine Joel is going to be ask out to try and win a title. Im guessing when the sixers look to make that move they don’t want just guys back but significant draft capital. Essentially they took themselves out of that possibility cause i don’t see the sixers not getting a boatload of draft picks for Embiid along with players back.

The Knicks just screwed us in that aspect lol.

With how free agency is playing out, if I’m the Sixers I offer OG a max contract. Not because I just want him, but also it potentially screws with the Knicks. Because I think the Knicks believed that they were going to get OG at less than a max. They can offer a fifth year. But with the 5th year let’s say they’re offering five for 200 million and he’s getting offered a four year max at 184 million the extra year for the life of the contract is only 16 million. to me, it means that the Knicks would have to go up to something like 220-225 million. And frankly, if I’m OG and the life of the contract for one more year is only really giving me $16 million, I rather get to free agency a year earlier at 31 because I am assuming based off my talent I can make that 16 million and then some. By going an extra year I’m gonna be 32 going on 33 it’s an extra year he has to stay healthy.

But there’s been rumors for years he was not happy with his role with the Raptors and wanted a bigger role. So I don’t know how that all plays in this equation. I think this twofold Knicks believe they can have two wings like OG and bridges to compete with the Celtics. Also did it knowing it was a sunk cost with what they traded to get OG anyways and if he leaves, they didn’t have a viable replacement for him. Which if they made the trade for bridges, they at least have that in the back pocket as well as they really liked bridges. I think clearly the top goal is to have og and bridges. But if they can’t they aren’t scrambling at the start of free agency trying to replace his loss

He would be our most important wing and have a crucial role with more minutes here.

Imo if the Sixers offer him 4 years $182 mil then the Knicks have to come close to that with the 5th year being an option for OG. Imo i think the Sixers plan was always the direction to go but you can’t just have a plan. You have to be able to enact it. That to me was always the part that felt like they’d screw up.

Ingram and DFS would be a solid, realistic offseason. Probably not good enough but... They just got rid of Tobi, why would you give up assets for Tobi 2.0? If that's the move fire Morey on the spot

Curry is at the end of his prime and PG is getting up there. This doesn’t even make them the 3rd best team in the West.

I am kind of with Brian Windhorst that if OG is available on Sunday, they’re going to offer him close to a max. I think the Knicks made that bridges trade because they want to have both of them. but i also think they have a set price they’re willing to go for OG. And if he does leave, they didn’t want to get caught with their pants down and not have somebody there to replace him either. I think the full plan is to bring both of them back but curious to see if the Knicks will do it if he gets offered a max.
