The problem i see developing is, embiid is going to get knocked out in the second round again and see they can’t build the roster to compete around him and ask out. Frankly you can build a roster like Boston except the Sixers have mismanaged assets and made dope decisions with their cap space. I said after they signed Horford and Tobias and let Jimmy go they blew their chance at an nba title. Hate saying it but the sixers pissing away assets and making a crap ton of mistakes is really hard to overcome. The fact they are a top 4 team in the conference (when Embiid is healthy) is a credit to Embiid being Embiid and muscala hitting a game winner so we could draft a kid like maxey. Was thinking about this last night go back to when they started the process and make a mistake and hit list. The mistakes have to be at least 6-7 times longer. It’s pretty remarkable we sit where we do with the amount of F ups this franchise has had.

could happen...and that would force a rebuild. it's gonna happen eventually.

i agree that they've f'd up royally with turrible moves in the past. this is the "clean slate" offseason so we'll see what they come up with. but expecting a super-team like boston in 1 offseason is a little unrealistic, imo.  boston has had tatum & brown since 2017 and this year were finally able to put a great roster around them.

Jared shot over 60% at the rim unassisted so he has the ability to create rim pressure

On the off chance they sign George to a max, how much space would that leave them with to bring in another guy? It's like 15 mill right? And then it would need to be vet min players and any exemptions they can get?

I would argue they’ve had some pretty good rosters around them before this year. It was never like Boston had bad rosters around them. I would have to go check, but I’m pretty sure Boston outside of like one year has had a top five record in the NBA every year over the last 6 years. They weren’t as good as this one. The reason why they were able to get to this point was because they didn’t make massive mistake after massive mistake. The Sixers continuously made mistake after mistake. And it caught up to them and what they were capable of doing. You could’ve gotten to where Boston is building it up but you didn’t have anyone in charge that had creativity Stevens or ainge had (besides Hinkie annd since Hinkie) and pissed away assets.

that said it forces a rebuild but Maxey is going to be just good enough to keep you in playoff tournament range. So essentially not good enough to win a title and not bad enough to be picking high enough to get the superstar you need so you are gonna have to get really lucky picking in the range you are to acquire that player. It’s what i said 2 years ago essentially need to have enough assets to trade for a star with maxey and if you can’t eventually maxey asks out cause you can’t draft that guy or trade for that guy

idk about grant and ingram. grant & KCP feels more like something they'd do.

Yeah I guess not. Those two would take up 66 million this year.

Grant has a 7 2 wingspan but he is pretty slow. How is his defense these days?

I was looking at Grant's numbers earlier, he has actually been a pretty good 3 point shooter the last 2 seasons. He is one they may be able to get a discount on if the Blazers want to dump salary, but if they sign a max player like George he is making too much to be a him AND George situation

Grant is 3.5 years older but will still be in his prime the next 3 years for our window or if in 1-2 years we blow it up, he has a fair contract. Ingram will cost 15 million more per year starting 2025. Grant can also shoot the 3 while Ingram can’t.

Wouldn’t say Ingram can’t. In 2019-2020 and 2020-21 he shot 6 a game and made 39 and 38 percent. The issue is the next 3 seasons he’s only taken 4.1, 3.8 and 3.6 per game and his numbers dropped. Frankly i wouldn’t be surprised if he had a better coach like nurse and they get him to get his numbers back to 6 a game that he can be around a 38% shooter again (2022-23 he shot 39% but he only took 3.6 per game). Frankly if you want to take an Aaron Gordon risk it’s probably Ingram. He’s the guy i think you can convince yourself with a better coach and system he could see Gordon type revolution. Not expecting it but i think he’s the guy I’d bet on to do it

Dejounte Murray only make 25 mill this year. If he is available and you get Grant, that leaves 8-10 million to play with? How much cap space do we have exactly? I know it’s close to 60 mill.

According to bodner after drafting McCain it’s $61. If they dealt the pick it would’ve been $65

So if they still trade him, then 65 mill right?

We can’t afford to overpay unless it’s the last piece or it’s a major piece that moves us up a tier.

I said this before and I'll say it again, if Ingram is the end result fire Morey now

This is the combo that interests me but it could end up being a spacing disaster with Murray not being a great shot and if Grant reverts back to his potato 3 point percentage which would be the Sixers thing to happen

I know Ingram won’t be the savior but why do you hate him so much? He is only 26. He just hit his prime.

Whoever is coming, we need guys who can score. Joel will be tired and worn down from the Olympics. If he makes it to the start of the season healthy, he will still have his inevitable injury.  Can’t drop 3-4 spots in the seeding if Joel is out 2 months.
