Because they were worried about wear and tear and injury concerns and fit. That’s not just a Gm that’s an ownership decision. Add on, I believe it was Chris Haynes that said, they were going to offer butler him that max and Jimmy Butler still wanted to go to Miami. We can bring that up here but I don’t think that’s true. But if you believe Haynes that they were gonna offer that max and he was still going to Miami anyways. So you’re gonna tell me now when OG has had injury problems in the past, they’re just gonna be like yeah here’s a five-year Max and you are a lesser player then what butler was then. It was not a given they were gonna offer OF a 4 year max in FA. Go look at the wording. They said "close” to a max No offense Jimmy Butler max extension is two more years added on. So the contract only 4 years. It’s not five years. Add on it becomes an expiring contract after 3 years not after 4. You seem to think a five-year max on an injury prone type player is the same thing as a max on older Jimmy Butler that’s 4 years. And Jimmy butler has been an all star caliber player consistently in his career and proven playoff performer. OG has not played at Butler’s level for a postseason Add on you keep talking about the sixers should’ve done this. What package did the Sixers have at their disposal that was gonna be better than the Knicks? Because the Raptors wanted quickly and RJ Barrett as young players along with picks. where do the Sixers on their roster have young talented players like that along with picks? Show me this package. You really want to talk about playing chess every time we’ve talked about this you have yet to show me the package that would beat out a New York Knicks package. Because it doesn’t exist. If the Raptors wanted young players along with draft assets, the Sixers didn’t have that. I’m sorry Ricky council isn’t cutting it for the Raptors. All you had was expiring contracts and picks you could’ve sent them. They clearly wanted young players along with draft assets to make that move. add on OG’s agent is Leon Rose’s son. That’s a factor in this.. I don’t think the 76ers were gonna offer OG (based off reports) they said something close to a max. So there’s a chance they weren’t even offering him 4 years of a max if he reached FA let me also bring up Tobias Harris. The last time the Sixers traded away assets and then gave a guy close to a five-year max was Tobias harris. You don’t think that sticks with the 76ers ownership? they seen about giving up assets, putting themselves into a guy where they gave a flawed player close to a five-year max and then getting stuck. I guarantee you that is something that makes them hesitate to even give that. "It was kind of surprising to see," Embiid said in regards to The Athletic report, which suggested Simmons cannot play alongside Embiid anymore. "We'll say that even going back to, I mean, the reason we signed Al (Horford) and got rid of Jimmy (Butler), which I still think was a mistake, just to make sure he needed the ball in his hands, and that's the decision they made. Like I said, it is surprising."

The issue is that Embiid isnt healthy. But theoretically, on paper, he is better than anyone they have which can be a big equalizer. It still depends on who else we can sign because Boston has the depth, so many players who just fit right.

The Sixers did not have anything close to quickley and Barrett to pull it off. They’d have to give up draft assets and hope that was what the raptors wanted. Which frankly i don’t think they did. They apparently loved quickley. Great embiid said that. We have report from Chris Haynes (if true) they were prepared to offer butler a max and butler wasn’t feeling so great about going back to Philly and then reports he wanted to go to Miami ( in this article he stated it and butler wasn’t feeling coming back so if they were willing to offer a max. butler wasn’t feeling it and reports also indicated he wanted to go to miami due to multiple reasons. https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-76-ers-issues-could-lead-to-brett-browns-departure-230642482.html). Now i call bs on Haynes report cause i had a good source that was connected to an assistant coach on that sixers team that said they didn’t/werent.
June 27, 20241 yr Lauri would be a start and then another impact player the following year along with good fits signed this year is the only way we catch Boston in the next 1-2 years. Or Maxey somehow takes a leap and becomes a top 10 player.

Issue is I’m guessing ainge wants all the draft capital and young talent. a team has that same draft capital the sixers have to offer then some young talent to add into the trade. The Sixers have draft capital assets and cap space. Unfortunately i think you likely lose that bidding war.

They got picks for Siakam and while fit wouldn't have been perfect it could have worked. No need to write a book back either.
June 27, 20241 yr Pick before in Oso Ighodaro would have made more sense with Maxey At best, the very best outlook he is Capela.

First Nick nurse and siakam didn’t get along. So that’s probably a reason they didn’t go after him (and possibly OG too). (According to the ringer podcast one reason nick nurse isn’t the coach of the bucks is because OG and siakam talked to Giannis and after that Giannis was out) second wasn’t an ideal fit. third again Bruce brown had value that they were going to try and unload him in the offseason to get more assets for as an expiring contract and a guy playoff teams would want. The Sixers had guys on expiring contracts. So 3 picks and brown who they very well might trade for more assets. Again Sixers didn’t have that. They had expiring contracts and draft picks. You willing to give up 4-5 picks for siakam?
